Halloween Kills Image Gives New Look at Two Returning 1978 Characters

Two more characters from John Carpenter's classic 1978 slasher flick Halloween will appear alongside Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween Kills. The twelfth film in the Halloween franchise brings back Curtis as Laurie Strode to face off against Michael Myers yet again, who is played in the film by the original Nick Castle in collaboration with James Jude Courtney. The movie will serve as a sequel to Halloween, David Gordon Green's 2018 film in which Curtis returned in her debut acting role 40 years after the first movie premiered.

The Halloween franchise is rife with continuity shifts and deviations, which 2018's Halloween sought to remedy by retconning all preceding films save for the original. Halloween Kills will be the third film in a timeline that includes Halloween (1978), Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends, the latter of which is set to be released in October 2022. The 2018 sequel introduced Laurie's daughter (Judy Greer) and granddaughter (Andi Matichak), whom Laurie has alienated due to persisting trauma from Myers' attack. After Michael escapes from the psychiatric hospital where he was institutionalized in pursuit of Laurie, the film ends with him trapped in a burning building but still alive.

On Saturday, Jamie Lee Curtis shared an image from the upcoming movie on Instagram that gives a sneak peek at some of the characters who will be returning in Halloween Kills on October 15. A still from the film offers a new look at four characters in the movie, three of whom are nurses. In her caption, Curtis directs fans to scope out familiar faces from two previous movies in the series: the original 1978 Halloween and its 2018 counterpart of the same name.

Nancy Stephens, who played Nurse Marion Chambers in Halloween, Halloween 2, and Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, will return for a fourth film. Also reprising her role from the 1978 movie is Kyle Richards, best known as a main original cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Richards played Lindsay Wallace, the child who Laurie's friend Annie is babysitting the night she is killed by Myers. Two actors who appeared in 2018's Halloween are also pictured with Richards and Stephens: Carmela McNeal and Michael Smallwood, aka nurses Vanessa and Marcus.

Nurse Marion and Lindsay Wallace aren't the only 1978 supporting characters who will make an appearance: Tommy Doyle and Lonnie Elam will also be back, played by Anthony Michael Hall and Robert Longstreet. Tommy was the boy who Laurie babysat across the street from Lindsay, while Lonnie is Tommy's former bully. The survivors of Michael's previous attacks go on the offense in Halloween Kills, forming a mob to kill him once and for all after they learn he escaped the burning house. Of course, with another Halloween movie in the works, it's unlikely the mob will be successful. Still, 2018's film was well received, and with a great cast of returning and new actors, Halloween Kills has the potential for a satisfying follow-up.
