The newest episode of Pitch Meeting bonds with Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The latest entry in Sony's Spider-Verse films, Venom: Let There Be Carnage stars Tom Hardy, Woody Harrelson, Naomie Harris, and Michelle Williams with director Andy Serkis at the helm. Picking up after the events of the first film, Eddie Brock/Venom (Hardy) find themselves quarreling over the direction of their collective lives, when Eddie gets a request from serial killer Cletus Kasady (Harrelson) to tell his story. Kasady is able to get a piece of the Venom symbiote in the process, which gives birth to his own symbiote, known as Carnage. Carnage then makes it his mission to reunite with his super-powered girlfriend, Shriek (Harris), and get revenge on Eddie Brock, while using his ex-girlfriend Anne (Williams) as bait.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage reviews thus far have been bad-to-middling, but the box office has been on fire for the film, breaking the post-pandemic opening weekend record and securing $90.1 million in ticket sales domestically. That brings the total to over $100 million worldwide and will surely see the film go on to perform even better than the first film throughout its theatrical run. The post-credits sequence is also a big draw, which should keep fans going back for more, especially since it mysteriously brings Venom into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Now, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is on the Pitch Meeting chopping block, with host Ryan George hilariously picking apart the film's very noticeable flaws and key moments. From Cletus Kasady's changing hairpiece to the romcom comparison to the big CGI end battle, Ryan tackles all the things fans love and hate about the sequel, making for some funny commentary about the new film. Don't miss the reaction to being included in the MCU, which is almost assuredly how a studio exec would react to having their property included there. Check out the video below:

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is the first cinematic appearance of Carnage, who became a fan favorite character ever since he was created in 1992 by David Michelinie and artist Mark Bagley in the pages of "The Amazing Spider-Man." Since that time, the character has appeared in a variety of Spider-Man animated shows, as well as a multitude of video games. The first appearance of Cletus Kasady, however, was in the post-credits of 2018's Venom, which was also played by Woody Harrelson, who was able to expand the role in the sequel to a large degree.

Reactions to Venom: Let There Be Carnage have been mixed, with fans loving it, hating it, or being fairly dismissive of it. While the thrill of seeing Venom and Carnage battle onscreen is pure fan fulfillment, the film's narrative structure, characterization and ultra-tight runtime hold it back from being a more fully realized film. At 97 minutes, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is more Cliffs Notes than epic superhero film, which is surprising given that the filmmakers had an entire year to tinker with the film before it debuted. Love it or hate it, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is still a massive financial success, which in Hollywood can trump all negativity surrounding a film.
