Jake Gyllenhaal, whether working as a producer or an actor, remains a very busy man. He's now attached to not one but two new films, including Prophet, which will find Extraction's Sam Hargrave adapting a Rob Liefeld comic story.

Marc Guggenheim, a veteran of comicbook adaptations given his work on the Arrowverse DC TV series, is writing the script based on the Deadpool co-creator's work. In the film, Gyllenhaal will play John Prophet, who volunteers for a German experiment near the end of World War II in order to feed his family. The experiments give him superior strength, but after a bombing buries him alive and traps him underground for 20 years, he reawakens in 1965, where things are not great for Prophet. The world has moved on without him, his daughter resents him, and KGB agents are after him to create super-soldiers from his blood.

It all sounds like something that action expert Hargrave can make work, and Gyllenhaal will bring his usual commitment.

Elsewhere, Deadline reports that he's also in talks for Guy Ritchie's new, untitled film. That one is wrapped in mystery for now, because while Ritchie has several projects on the bubble, including Paramount's Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare, this is a mystery new film for Miramax. Which means we don't know what role Gyllenhaal would be playing in it. We do know that it'll be the next film both men are likely to make, though, as it's due to be shooting before the year's end. Next up for release from Ritchie is latest collaboration with Jason Statham, named Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre, due out next year.
