Monster Hunter Rise Will Not Support Crossplay or Cross Save

Late last month, Capcom finally confirmed the details surrounding the upcoming PC port of Monster Hunter Rise. The latest entry in the used-to-be-niche action-RPG series launched on the Switch in March of 2021 and remains an exclusive title until the PC port launches in January. Being that it's on PC, the Monster Hunter Rise port will support customizable controls, 4K resolution, uncapped framerates, high-res textures, and a couple of more goodies.

Although the PC port for Monster Hunter Rise sounds like it has a lot going for it, Capcom has just announced that a fan-requested feature will not be making it into the PC version of the game, which might make some die-hard fans of the series upset.

Coming from the official Monster Hunter Twitter account today, Capcom confirmed that when Monster Hunter Rise launches on PC next year, it will not feature any sort of cross-play or cross-save. This basically means that if any Switch players were looking forward to playing with friends on PC and vice versa, it will not be possible at the moment. There will also be no way to transfer over save data between the two platforms, leaving players to start progress from scratch once the PC version releases.

Even though fans have requested for this feature to be included in the PC port, Capcom is "unable to implement [crossplay and crossave] at this time." This is also the case with the new Monster Hunter Rise expansion launching next summer, as Sunbreak will not offer these wanted features as well.

For those still wanting to try out the PC port of Monster Hunter Rise, they can look forward to a free demo on Steam on October 13. It's virtually the same exact demo that released on the Switch, offering hunters the chance to try out all 14 weapons and face off against the flagship beast, Magnamalo, among other monsters.

The Sunbreak expansion for Rise will release at the same time on PC and Switch, and like the Iceborne expansion for Monster Hunter: World, it will have a new storyline, as well as a new base of operations, new locales, new monsters, new gameplay elements, and the new Master quest rank to challenge even the most seasoned hunters.

Monster Hunter Rise is available now on Switch and will release for PC on January 12, 2022.
