Marvel Studios and Sony release the first Spider-Man: No Way Home TV spot, which reveals more of Spider-Man & Doctor Strange in the Mirror Dimension.

The first TV spot for Spider-Man: No Way Home has been released, offering an extended look at Doctor Strange's (Benedict Cumberbatch) mirror dimension. Marketing for the upcoming Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment collaboration is starting to pick up. This makes sense with only a month and a half away from the blockbuster hitting theaters. While fans wait for the second and most likely final trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, a new promo clip has been dropped to keep the public engaged.

It's been more than two months since the first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home was released back in late August 2021. After months of waiting, the trailer didn't disappoint as it effectively laid the premise of the upcoming Jon Watts-directed threequel. Picking up after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, the upcoming movie deals with the fallout of Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) secret superhero identity being revealed. Desperate for help, he reaches out to Doctor Strange who jumps on the opportunity, but casting the tampered spell inadvertently makes their predicament worse as they now have to deal with the multiverse. Chances are, this is how Spider-Man 2 villain, Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), makes his way into the MCU.

As the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home nears, Marvel Studios and Sony are ramping up their marketing efforts for the movie as proven by the release of its first TV spot. The clip features mostly previously released footage, but it includes an extended shot of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange entering the Mirror Dimension. Watch the clip from @sebbazz on Twitter below:

The Mirror Dimension first appeared in the MCU in the original Doctor Strangemovie. It's a parallel dimension that allows magical users to practice sorcery without affecting the real world. In the Spider-Man: No Way Home clip, it seems like Doctor Strange opened it himself so that he and Spider-Man can travel to it. The reason for this remains unclear, but it may have something to do with the movie's multiversal aspects. With a variation of the Sinister Six coming into the MCU, it's not outside the realm of possibility that the future Sorcerer Supreme attempts to lock the villains in the Mirror Dimension as they decide the best way to deal with this.

This Spider-Man: No Way Home promo spot emerged online before the first official poster for the movie was rolled out. Given these, it's safe to assume that it won't be long before the much-anticipated second trailer makes its debut online. Timeline-wise, this checks out as it's only a matter of time before doing press for the threequel. What's curious is how much Marvel Studios and Sony are willing to reveal in their promos. There are several persistent rumors about the film, including appearances from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Both actors are widely expected to reprise their respective Spider-Man variations, and that makes sense considering the movie's multiversal narrative. That being said, Kevin Feige warned Marvel fans to keep their expectations in check in case some of these speculations don't come to fruition.
