Star Wars star Hayden Christensen recently shared his thoughts on a potential Darth Vader television show. Christensen first joined the popular science-fiction fantasy franchise as the Jedi Apprentice Anakin Skywalker in the 2002 prequel film Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. He returned to the role in the following chapter Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith which saw Anakin's fall to the Dark Side of the Force and transformation into the evil half-man half-machine Imperial strongman Darth Vader. After 17 years, Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin/Vader in the highly-anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

Set 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, the upcoming show will follow Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi who lives in exile on the desert planet of Tatooine and watches over a young Luke Skywalker from afar. The dark lord leads the Inquisitorius, a platoon of Dark Force users whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill the remaining Jedi in hiding. One tenacious Inquisitor, Reva the Third Sister, will track down Kenobi, leading to a long-anticipated showdown between Darth Vader and his former master.

During an interview with Digital Spy, Christensen shared his thoughts on a possible spin-off television show that would be focused on his character Darth Vader. When asked how the actor feels about a potential solo outing as the iconic Star Wars villain, Christensen claimed that he would be open to the chance if it arose. Read how the actor responded below.

"If the opportunity presents itself, I would be all for it. I think this is a character that is very complex, and there’s a lot there to further explore. If the powers that be were so inclined, I would be so excited to get to do so."

Anakin and Darth Vader's story has been thoroughly chronicled during the end of the Old Republic as shown in Revenge of the Sith and at the tail end of the Empire as seen in the original Star Wars trilogy. The period in between the prequels and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope offers the greatest opportunity for Christensen to explore the character. There are multiple books and comics that already examine parts of Darth Vader's journey during this era that writers could use to create a potential spin-off series.

Christensen has been enthusiastic about his return to the franchise that once made him a household name. With Disney and Lucasfilm expanding the Star Wars universe through Disney+, there is more than enough room to expand Darth Vader's story. If the powers that be ever greenlight a Darth Vader spin-off series, Christensen appears more than welcome to don the iconic black armor one more time. Until that potential moment, audiences can satiate their appetite for Darth Vader when he returns to the franchise in Obi-Wan Kenobi on May 27.
