μTorrent - Now on Android!

Shame about Australasian data caps, but hey...

For those of us who simply can't wait to get to their PC and download (and for heretical enthusiasts who dare use a Mac) a Beta version of the popular μTorrent client is now available for download from the Google play store. While this isn't a first (μTorrent for Android joins a host of other available Android torrent clients) the application is gratifyingly devoid of adverts, speed limits and is free to download and use, at least for now.

“For the past few months our engineers have been hard at work developing a mobile BitTorrent app that is worthy of the name “µTorrent.” In order to live up to our high standards, we knew that the app would need to be fast, lightweight, powerful and better than anything else currently on the market. After months of hard work (and copious amounts of coffee) we are proud to release µTorrent Beta for Android to the Google Play store.” - μTorrent Blog

Having had a play with the newly minted app, we can say it's our favorite Android torrent client so far, boasting a smooth UI and a host of good features it should compliment the popular Windows client that has garnered 140 million users. Interestingly this also means the world's most popular mobile OS has actually gotten a client before Linux - whose version has been a 'work in progress' for some time. Also left out in the cold for now are iOS users, who will have to make do with an existing 'remote control' μTorrent app that can remotely manage a Windows client.
