Two Night Stand, an upcoming romantic comedy, began as a Black List script — penned by Mark Hammer (Skins US) — that was found by producers Beau Flynn (Hercules), Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), and Sam Englebardt (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For). The first trailer for the film has debuted online, posing an important question to young Brooklynites: “How do you do the walk of shame when you can’t get out the door?”

MTV released the first trailer (above) for Two Night Standalong with the official poster (below). In the film, Annaleigh Tipton (Crazy, Stupid, Love) stars as Megan, a twenty-something still reeling from a broken engagement who tries to get back into the dating world by means of a one night stand with Alec (Miles Teller) who she meets online.

Shot over the course of 19 days in Brooklyn amidst the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in 2012, Entertainment One picked up the U.S. rights for the film last Fall. The movie co-stars Jessica Szohr (Gossip Girl) as Megan’s roommate, Faiza, along with Scott Mescudi (as in Kid Cudi) as Cedric, Faiza’s boyfriend.

At the time of filming, Teller may have only been known for his supporting roles in the Footloose remake and Project X but has since gone on to star in The Spectacular Now, That Awkward Moment, and 21 and Over. He’ll also be hitting the big screen next year in Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four, which recently wrapped filming. Teller has plenty of experience playing the likable-albeit-obnoxious romantic lead, but the success of Two Night Stand will also ride on his on-screen chemistry with co-star Tipton.

Though it’s difficult to tell from the trailer whether these two will be able to sustain the movie, the brief scenes of them together look promising. For instance, short flashes of the advice their characters offer each other on sex highlight Teller’s charm, as well as Tipton’s ability to keep up with his antics.

However, for those who aren’t sure of the on-screen magic between Teller and Tipton, Two Night Stand seems to pull from plenty of honest (and awkward) real life experiences. While that could help the movie be more relatable, it could also feel like a desperate ploy to bring in twenty-something viewers. We won’t know how these aspects of Two Night Stand play out until the movie is released.

Two Night Stand premieres in theaters on September 26th, 2014, and on-demand channels October 3rd, 2014.
