Microsoft’s Windows Phone Keyboard Arrives on iPhone with Exclusive Features

Recommended Posts

We’ve known for a while that Microsoft is bringing its super awesome Word Flow keyboard that’s built into Windows Phone on iPhones too, and it turns out that development is advancing quite nicely and the software giant is ready to advance to the next step.

Redmond has officially started a closed beta program of Word Flow on iOS, allowing users to register and try out the keyboard before it’s released to the store. Previously, the app was only available for select testers, but Microsoft is now giving interested users the chance to try it out on their devices too.

“Thank you for your interest in Word Flow for iPhone, a Microsoft Garage Project! Our app is currently in a closed beta release, which means we want to get it JUST right before we open it up to everyone. Please enter your email address below, so that we can send you an invitation as soon as the Word Flow for iPhone app is ready,” Microsoft says on the website for the new beta program.

Exclusive features on iOS

It’s no secret that bringing Windows Phone apps on iOS has been received with criticism from the Windows community, but here’s something that could make it even worse.

Word Flow arrives on iOS with two exclusive features that will make the app even more advanced than it currently is on Windows Phone.

Microsoft will allow iPhone owners to customize the background of their keyboards with their own photo or one of the built-in themes, a feature that’s not yet available on Windows phones. Furthermore, there’s a new one-handed mode that makes it easy to type with just one hand by moving all keys to the side of the screen in an arc shape.

Microsoft is expected to release the app in the store in the summer, with some sources claiming that June could be the month when Word Flow will land on iPhones.
