Guest Camilla February 23, 2011 Share February 23, 2011 Hi I am thinking of changing to Linux Ubuntu, I hear it's at least as good as Windows in everything except gaming. Is that true, doesn't Linux have any other downside than that?
Guest Ethan February 23, 2011 Share February 23, 2011 Well i have tried Linux , but it seems a little difficult to me . Moreover i prefer windows over linux as i am a gamer , and windows is the best for gaming! and i suggest u download virtual pc , install linux in it and then try it. If u like it , u can use it in real! if u wanna know what virtual box is, just google it up! rather u can even PM me :P Regards, KD!
Guest Camilla February 23, 2011 Share February 23, 2011 Actually I want to install Linux to avoid gaming. Sounds weird but yeah I gotta try it, because lots of people tell me it's hard and not convenient to play games on it, but I'm afraid that it will bug me when it comes to office work, crashes, burn out my hardware because of system failure that causes overwork on the hardware. etc Doesn't it have any other downside beside gaming? If that is so then I will install it.
Guest suburban February 23, 2011 Share February 23, 2011 I have myself been using ubuntu for 4 years and find it pretty comfy to deal with. For instance, it's way more stable(crashed twice but it was my fault  ), the terminal is quite a useful tool if you know how to use it B) , It's freaking faster than windows (my computer specs kinda suck <_< ) and it's free :D . But i have to admit that from time to time, some packages/sources can get tricky to install/compile . Only advice: install a LTS version( 10.04 is the last) and don't upgrade to the next ones cause (it's only my opinion) i feel like those upgrades ain't very stable untill it's been at least 2 months old(i just got some hardware driver problems but it was probably my fault again// must have messed up with jack's settings  how stupid was that? :P ). Next step: Arch Linux B)
Guest Camilla February 24, 2011 Share February 24, 2011 Thanks for the feedback, ubuntu sounds promising I'm gonna give it a try, how is it when you want to join wireless networks?
Guest suburban February 24, 2011 Share February 24, 2011 I didn't try it myself because i don't have a laptop but i guess it should work flawless. Though, the best distro for that kind of use would remain backtrack. //If you need some info: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/ https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WiFiHowTo https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Adhoc
