Kim Dotcom’s Bitcache Announces Bitcoin Donation Plug-In for YouTube

Recommended Posts

Bitcache, Kim Dotcom’s blockchain powered service for Megaupload 2.0, has announced a micropayment integration for YouTube. It will allow fans to donate Bitcoin to their favorite channels, even if they’ve been “demonetized” by Google.

Bitcache Helps YouTubers Get Around Demonetization

Kim Dotcom’s YouTube channel “MrKimDotcom” released a teaser trailer today for a YouTube plug-in from Bitcache that allows viewers to make donations.

Donations can apparently be made via the Bitcache plug-in as people watch videos, giving them an option to directly support the content creators as they casually watch their videos.

These direct contributions could help content creators get around YouTube demonetization policies, which are known to be arbitrary and seem to be politically biased against more conservative and libertarian content.

Indeed, the new feature is even advertised as a new way for YouTubers to earn income in the short trailer.

Kim Dotcom Announces ICO

Bitcache’s teaser for its plug-in comes only days after Kim Dotcom announced an ICO for the platform.

At the same he also made it known that a limited release of Bitcache will be available for testing by users by sometime next week.

Dotcom also said Twitter followers would be able to claim a “pre-loaded” wallet with which they can purchase online content from the platform.

The project seems to be on schedule, as it was initially set to release by Q3 of 2017 as a core part of the cloud storage service Megaupload 2.0.

Bitcache began with a successful public funding campaign on BnkToTheFuture in October 2016, when it raised more than $1 million USD to fund the platform, with the first half raised exclusively through Bitcoin investment.
