EE broadband DOWN - Internet access NOT WORKING across the UK

Recommended Posts

EE'S Broadband service is currently down across the UK with customers complaining that they are unable to access the internet.

EE customers appear to be struggling to get online this morning with the firm's broadband not working across large parts of the UK.

The issues seem to have started late last night and have continued into the morning.

Independent website Down Detector, which measures social mentions around a certain topic to track outages across the globe, shows users reporting issues with EE's broadband throughout the UK.

One users posted a message saying: "Internet not working in Essex. Green lights but no broadband , cmon EE sort it out!"

Whilst another broadband customer added: "Peterborough still down here since midnight. EE confirm UK land broadband is down.

"Engineers investigating and hope working around 11am today."

It's currently unclear what is causing the issues.

According to Down Detector the problems spread across large parts of London, the Midlands and Manchester.

There are also issues reported in the south west of England and Scotland.

One EE user has just posted a message on Twitter which apparently fixes the problem.

Jay Bennett said in a post: "If you're with @EE for your broadband their DNS is down. Use Google's DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to get online for now."

The news comes as it was recently revealed that the UK lags behind the rest of the world when it comes to download speeds.

Britain ranked 31st in the world, well behind most of Europe, New Zealand and even Thailand.

A new report from Cable.co.uk has found that across the UK the average broadband download speed is 16.5Mbps - at this speed an HD movie takes around 40 minutes to download.

Singapore tops the list with average speeds of over 55Mbps followed by Sweden, Taiwan and Denmark who all average over 33Mbps.

Although the UK still struggles with slow broadband spare a thought for those wanting to access the web in Yemen where average speeds are just 0.34Mbps.
