BioWare’s Anthem may have been pushed in 2019, but developers assure fans that the game will still keep the amazing graphics it first showcased at E3 2017.

In Anthem, players are tasked with leaving the safety of their civilization to explore an unknown landscape, suited up inside impressive exoskeleton suits known as Javelins. Anthem‘s first footage apparently only just scratched the surface of the game’s potential.

To say that gamers were impressed with Anthem‘s six minutes of footage from last year’s E3 would be an understatement. Some questioned whether the gameplay was even real, but now, Technical Director Brenon Holmes has taken to Reddit to put everyone’s fears at rest. When asked whether the gameplay featured was still representative of what the company is developing, Holmes replied “Yep! I’m sure you’ll see confirmation of this ‘soon’.” Since BioWare will be at E3 this year, the general assumption is that an announcement on the subject will be made then.

With Electronic Arts refusing to call Anthem‘s moved date a delay, bosses are instead citing it as smart scheduling. Battlefield 5 now fills the spot left behind by Anthem, making BioWare’s game a huge release for EA in early 2019. With an ambitious single-player mode and an equally expansive multiplayer, BioWare is attempting to restore some of its reputation after a slew of disappointing titles. It was apparently the failings of Mass Effect: Andromeda that forced the company to reevaluate how it makes its games, and it sounds like Anthem will be worth the wait.

History is littered with games that have lured players in with fancy graphics and cinematic sequences, only to leave fans disappointed with the finished product. Not to single them out, but both Watch Dogs and The Division came under fire for not matching up to their reveal trailers. These days it is all too easy to slap a “not actual gameplay” warning on some footage and leave it at that. Thankfully, Anthem promises to deliver exactly what BioWare won everyone over with in the past.

Given that BioWare’s boss has already hyped Anthem as something unlike anything the industry has ever seen before, the team behind the long-awaited title are already setting themselves up to have one of 2019’s biggest games. With a beta version of Anthem also set for release ahead of a full reveal, there is much more than just some flashy graphics for fans to look forward to.
