PUBG Creator Congratulates Treyarch on Black Ops 4’s Blackout Mode

This week was a pretty big one for the world of Call of Duty, with the big reveal for everything Black Ops 4 happening just a couple days ago. During the big reveal Treyarch confirmed that there would in fact be a Battle Royale mode called Blackout! So how did the creator of PUBG react to the news of another developer throwing their hat in the ring of Battle Royale? Well, not exactly as you might expect actually.

It’s no secret that Brendan Greene has been less than supportive of a variety of Battle Royale games that have released over the past year, usually stating that he wished company’s would stop copying PUBG Corp’s idea for PUBG. This time around however, following the announcement of Blackout for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, PLAYERUNKNOWN tweeted his congratulations to Treyarch and Activision welcoming to the genre. You can check out his tweet of sweet nothings below.

This is definitely a lot sweeter than what we’ve previously seen from the PUBG team in the past. They’ve previously gone after Epic Games for copying their game following the announcement of a Battle Royale mode to Fortnite. It’s encouraging to see a change in attitude from the team at PUBG Corp., however this didn’t stop fans of Fortnite from pointing out the past. You can check out some of the savage tweets in the main thread of tweet above, including this one.

Right now it’s unknown how much Black Ops 4 Blackout mode is going to impact Fortnite and PUBG alike, but hopefully fans will get to see it in action sometime in the coming months. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set to launch on October 12 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can check out our preview of the latest installment in the COD franchise here.

What do you think about the reaction from PUBG? Are you glad for the change in attitude? Let us know in the comments below and keep it locked for updates!
