The trailer was published over on the official Call of Duty YouTube channel, revealing two minutes worth of gameplay for the brand new game mode that will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One gamers.

The name of the Battle Royale mode is called Blackout. The mode is introduced with a voiceover saying that we all love the Black Ops combat experience -- during the voiceover we get a flyby shot of freeze motion stills featuring soldiers wielding a variety of weapons while unloading their magazines in the general direction of their opponents.

One guy has what looks like a modified M60 behind a makeshift barricade where a pillar is littered with bullet holes that have chipped away the concrete in visibly large chunks.

What's also interesting is that we see some brand new elements to the Call of Duty gameplay experience, where one guy is rappelling down the outside of the building, while two other operatives are on the edge of the ledge, with one soldier holding a small, personal bullet shield that covers his entire body -- his partner is just behind him, firing from around his soldier. This seems like Treyarch may have been taking cues from Ubisoft's Rainbow Six: Siege when it comes to the team-oriented combat tactics.

Another image showcases a heavily armored soldier wielding a high-tech flamethrower that's spewing a long stream of fire in the direction of some target just off-screen.

The voiceover then explains that there's no need to explain how Battle Royale works because he says "we play them, too". However, the trick is that he explains that if Treyarch was going to add a Battle Royale mode to Black Ops 4, it had to be unique and done in a way unlike anything else on the market.

What's interesting here is that while he talks about refined mechanics and the best gameplay in the world, we're seeing some familiar features from the Black Ops franchise, such as utilizing remote-controlled vehicles to infiltrate enemy territory, which could prove to be very disruptive to the traditional Battle Royale experience most people are used to from PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Fortnite.

The mode will feature 10 year's worth of Black Ops features, likely including gadgets, weapons, vehicles and character skins. The Blackout mode will also be the largest map ever featured in a Call of Duty game, featuring air vehicles, land vehicles, and sea vehicles.

The mode will be available with the rest of the Call of Duty: Block Ops 4 experience when the game launches October 12th.
