Prince Harry gives Diana’s emerald-cut ring to Meghan

Recommended Posts

PRINCE Harry’s very personal gift to his bride was a ring that belonged to his mother.

Meghan wore on her right hand an emerald-cut aquamarine ring that belonged to the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

Its maker, Asprey, confirmed that it was the 1997-designed ring, and that the Duke had given it to his new bride as a wedding gift. The large gem matched the blue soles of the Duchess’ white Aquazurra shoes.

The ring provided the traditional “something blue” to the Duchess’ wedding outfit.

Those counting off the four elements would have noticed her something old — a pair of Cartier earrings she has worn previously; multiple somethings new — her Givenchy haute couture dress and veil among them; and something borrowed — Queen Mary’s Diamond Bandeau tiara from the Queen.

Princess Diana was pictured wearing the ring at a private viewing of the Christie’s auction of her dresses in 1997. Unlike the Duchess, who wears it alone, Diana teamed it with a diamond eternity band.

She was also pictured wearing it with a matching bracelet during a visit to Sydney in 1996.

The bracelet features a larger emerald-cut aquamarine clasped between six rows of pearls.

Harry’s gift was another way for him to include his mother in the celebrations.
