Doug Pederson is excited about White House visit but won’t pressure players to go

The invitation to the White House was extended to the Eagles last week. Their June 5 date has been set, but there are still some logistics to be worked out. One of the issues is that Philadelphia will have their second OTAs from June 4-7.

Doug Pederson was asked about the visit during his press conference before the Eagles took the field for Day 1 of voluntary OTAs.

"Right now June 5 is the day that we are going to go. We are excited to be going and be honored as world champions. It's a great honor. We are still working on logistics, but we are excited to be going," Pederson said on Tuesday.

Some of the players spoke against visiting the White House because of their disapproval of President Donald Trump. Malcolm Jenkins and Chris Long have both said they will absolutely not go.

While the Eagles have developed a true family atmosphere and do things as a unit, Pederson is not putting any pressure on any of the players to go to Washington, DC.

"It's on an individual basis. It's one of the things where we are working through a ton of things, but at the same time, we understand it's an individual decision."
