Dragon Ball FighterZ's First Event Is Here

If you thought Bandai Namco and Arc System Works were going to release Dragon Ball FighterZ and then just let it sit with a few DLC packs, you thought wrong. Bandai actually announced that there are special events being held for the 2D fighting game, and the first limited-time event is going on right now.

According to Gamespot, the limited-time event is available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One gamers. The event sees three players teaming up together to fight against a boss. The first party battle event is called "The Emperor Strikes Back", featuring three players teaming up together to fight back against Lord Frieza. The idea is that all players will need to work together in order to defeat Frieza multiple times in order to rack up points and receive free Zeni and free Premium Z Coins.

You'll be able to rack up said points from May 18th all the way to 11:00 pm Pacific Standard Time on May 21st. So you'll have all weekend long to cash in on the event, defeat Frieza, rack up points, and cash them in for some free Zeni and Premium Z Coins.

So what can you use the coins for? Well, you can use the coins to buy capsules that contain random items. It's very much like a loot box mechanic for Dragon Ball FighterZ.

And yes, the only way to rack up points is to participate in the party battles for now. It's part of the special event in the game, but you don't have to worry about it impeding on your PvP abilities since this PvE event will only last through the weekend, and then it'll be back to normal, kicking butt and taking names of other players instead of working together with them.

Additionally, Bandai Namco has another new feature for Dragon Ball FighterZowners, including an all-new FighterZ Cup monthly tournament event. These events allow players to rack up points and for their guild, known as the Z-Union.

I suppose it's a great way to start cultivating and fostering the eSports communities for Dragon Ball FighterZ, which will likely play a pretty huge role in this year's EVO Championship Series set to take place later this summer in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dragon Ball FighterZ came out earlier this year for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game got off to a hot start with strong sales, becoming one of the surprise hits of the year. It was helped by a lot of hype and a very amiable art-style that fans fell in love with since it mimics the style of the television show. This particular kind of renderer was originally used with Arc System Works' Guilty Gear Xrd series, but the company leveraged it to make use of Bandai Namco's property and it paid off quite well.

Sadly Nintendo Switch owners were left out of the loop, but at least eSports fans still have something to look forward to and something to sink their teeth into.
