North Korea increasing nuclear weapon production

Recommended Posts

NORTH Korea has reportedly been ramping up production of fuel for nuclear weapons at a number of secret sites as the country’s leader Kim Jong-un negotiates with the Trump administration.

An assessment from US intelligence agencies shows that Kim is trying to “deceive the US” as Mr Trump has declared that “there is no longer a nuclear threat” from the rogue nation, according to NBC News.

The officials, which spoke to the outlet on the condition of anonymity, said they believe the North Korean regime is continuing the weapons development while seeking concessions from both the US and South Korea.

“There are lots of things that we know that North Korea has tried to hide from us for a long time,” one intelligence official told the network.

“Work is ongoing to deceive us on the number of facilities, the number of weapons, the number of missiles.”

Mr Trump announced after his June 12 summit with Kim in Singapore that North Korea was committed to “complete denuclearisation.”

He also said the US would suspend joint military drills with South Korea along the peninsula.

But the intelligence analysts told NBC that North Korea has been increasing production of enriched uranium.

“There’s no evidence that they are decreasing stockpiles, or that they have stopped their production,” an official told NBC.

“There is absolutely unequivocal evidence that they are trying to deceive the US.”

The White House did not comment on the report.
