Man arrested for sending death threats to FCC chief was irate about net neutrality

A California man threatened to kill the children of Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai, saying he was “angry” about the repeal of net neutrality regulations, according to feds.

Markara Man, 33, was arrested Friday in Los Angeles and charged with threatening a family member of a federal official after the FBI traced a series of threatening emails to his Norwalk, Calif., home, the Department of Justice announced.

“I will find your children and I will kill them,” Man wrote in a December message with the subject “Cheers,” according to an FBI affidavit, Politico reported.

Man said he used the email address [email protected] to conceal his identity and because the handle sounded “tougher” and he wanted to “scare” Pai, officials said.

Pai, a Republican, faced widespread opposition from Democrats and legal challenges from attorneys general across the country as he led the agency’s effort to undo Obama-era FCC regulations aimed at ensuring equal access to all internet content.

The commission voted to repeal the 2015 rules in December, and the move took effect earlier this month.
