Eagles to roll out eighth debutant Oscar Allen against GWS

Recommended Posts

West Coast will roll out their eighth debutant of the season against GWS on Sunday, with key position prospect Oscar Allen named in the final team.

The Eagles have already rolled out a remarkable number of first-gamers for a team sitting in the top four, with Liam Ryan, Daniel Venables, Jake Waterman, Willie Rioli, Jack Petruccelle, Brayden Ainsworth and Jarrod Brander all making their first appearance this season.

A raft of injuries in key positions has seen the Eagles prepare to add Allen to that list.

Allen, Venables and Nathan Vardy have all made the cut, replacing Fraser McInnes, Liam Ryan and Jake Waterman.

The Giants’ final team saw defender Harry Perryman recalled and small forward Brent Daniels named to make his debut.

They replace injured pair Jacob Hopper and Jon Patton.

Allen was picked up by the Eagles with the 21st pick in last year’s national draft after a year which saw him win the Larke Medal as a key forward for WA’s under-18s.

His start to the season was pushed back by injury, and the Eagles have been trialling him mainly as a key defender in the WAFL.
