After numerous rumors claimed the Galaxy Note 9’s announcement would take place on August 9, Samsung has finally taken to its official social media channels to confirm the date, while also reverting back its old schedule in the process by bringing the Galaxy Note 9 announcement forward a few weeks.

The teaser itself actually makes no specific mention of the Galaxy Note 9, but prominently features a gold S Pen, suggesting a new gold variant of the flagship may also be in the works. In any case, the focus on the upgraded stylus falls in line with recent rumors that claimed the accessory would support Bluetooth this year. In doing so, users of the Galaxy Note 9 may be able to employ the S Pen as a wireless speaker whenever in close proximity of the connected device. Alternately, there are rumors surrounding a feature that would allow users to write on a blank piece of paper. However, because the stylus is inkless, whatever is written would be automatically notched down as a note on the device’s display, even if not in direct contact with the flagship.

In regards to what internal specifications the device will offer, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 will be present inside the US variant, while the international model will feature Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 Octa. Furthermore, the processors will be coupled with 6GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. Moreover, acting as an exclusive to certain markets, a model with 512GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM will be made available. Also, on the topic of software, Android 8.1 Oreo is expected to ship straight out of the box, although a speedy update to Android P upon its release could be possible.

Following the announcement of the Galaxy Note 9 in 42 days' time, Samsung is expected to open up a pre-order period of around two weeks, followed by shipments in the final week of August. Presently, it's unclear exactly why Samsung has chosen to revert back to its old schedule, but it will certainly give the South Korean market a head start over the LG V40, the 2018 iPhone lineup, and HMD Global’s Nokia 9 flagship.
