Warframe is Coming to Nintendo Switch (And Getting Hover Boards)

One of the best and most popular free-to-play games on the market is coming to one of the most popular platforms. Yes, Warframe is about to make its way with an official release on the Nintendo Switch and we can all finally take Warframe on the go!

Announced moments ago at TennoCon, the third annual Warframe convention hosted by Canadian developer and publisher Digital Extremes, Warframe is in development for the Switch thanks to a partnership between Digital Extremes and Panic Button. Panic Button helped work on DOOM, Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, and Rocket League, and are masters at porting triple-A games to Nintendo's hybrid portable console.

With more than 38 million registered players worldwide, the cooperative, free-to-play hit Warframe is a third-person online action game set in an evolving sci-fi world soon to be available on Nintendo Switch. Warframe gives players the chance to master the Warframe armor as the enigmatic Tenno, a race of ancient warriors wielding blade and gun, who are awakened from centuries of cryo-sleep by the mysterious guide, Lotus, to restore order throughout the Solar System. Warframe features more than 35 unique Warframes, hundreds of weapons and thousands of customization options, the ability to upgrade weapons armor and items using a flexible mod system, and the ability to join clans, nurture pets, and explore massive new open worlds.

Also unveiled today at TennoCon was the next expansion, dubbed Fortuna which adds all-new types of environments (and the planet Venus!), creatures and gameplay - including hoverboarding! Oh, and you can fly a capital ship and battle other starships! Stay tuned for more on that!

Warframe is a co-op shooter player in third-person and is already available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Players play as Tenno, a race of ancient warriors who suit up in unique "Warframes" in their war with the Grineer. Warframe is always a top 10 played game on Steam and seems to only be growing each year with more and more attention being paid to it by the media and streamers/influencers. I jumped into the game early, during the beta days, and fell in love with its uniquely intense and fluid movement and combat mechanics. It's what a lot of players moved to who were disappointed in Destiny 2's offerings.
