White apartment manager sacked after calling cops on black man because he wore socks

A BUILDING manager has sparked outrage after calling cops to get a black couple removed from the swimming pool – because the man was wearing socks.

Camry Porter was at the Riverset Apartments pool in Memphis, Tennessee, on the Fourth of July with her boyfriend and two godchildren when they were targeted by community manager Erica Walker.

Video footage suggests Walker flipped out after Porter’s boyfriend dipped his feet in the water while wearing socks, and demanded the clothing item be removed immediately.

During the bizarre exchange between the two women, Walker is captured in mobile phone footage in a heated debate with the couple.

She is repeatedly heard saying the socks were “against proper pool attire” - despite many other residents apparently flouting the rules - before proceeding to whip out her phone to call the police.

Porter can be heard saying: “I think she's calling the police because he has on socks.

“She's walking off making a phone call to whoever she needs to call.

“I haven't said anything crazy to her, but I did tell her I was not going to leave.”

According to Porter, Walker identified herself as the building's manager and demanded that her boyfriend follow the rules or leave the facility.

According to local TV station WREG 13, Walker had informed the family that hats were also banned poolside attire – this part of the conversation allegedly took place moments before Porter began recording.

However, the footage clearly shows several of Walker’s friends wearing caps in and around the pool, leading Porter to believe the incident may have had an ulterior motive.

Speaking to WREG 13, she said that she “never makes race an issue” generally, adding: “But it does look funny.

“It's 25, 30-plus white people out here and you haven't said anything — you're partying with them. You're partying with them! But when we come, it's an issue.”

Following an internal investigation, the Trilogy Real Estate Group confirmed that they felt Walker had acted inappropriately and had fired her.

In a statement, the company said: “After assessing statements from Ms. Porter and determining that this former employee's actions violate our company's policies & beliefs, she is no longer employed by Riverset Apartments.”
