Utah Jazz waive Jonas Jerebko, who could be Warriors-bound

JONAS Jerebko was released Saturday by the Utah Jazz and reportedly plans to sign with the reigning champion Golden State Warriors if he becomes a free agent.

ESPN reported Saturday that Jerebko will sign a one-year deal with the Warriors if he clears waivers on Monday. A team would have to guarantee his $4.2 million salary for next season to claim Jerebko and deny him free agency.

The 31-year-old power forward would be a top reserve for the Warriors, who will seek a fourth title in five seasons in the 2018-19 campaign.

“I loved my time in Salt Lake and will always remember it,” Jerebko said in a statement posted on his Twitter account.

“Can’t wait for what’s next for me and my basketball career. My best basketball is yet to come. Grinding in the gym everyday. Thanks also to all my fans. I hope you are as excited as me!!!”

Jerebko averaged 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds a game and shot 41.4 percent from 3-point range for the Jazz last season, when they reached the second round of the NBA playoffs before being ousted by Houston.

In eight NBA seasons with Detroit and Boston as well as the Jazz, Jerebko has averaged 6.2 points and 4.0 rebounds a game.

CHARLOTTE, CHICAGO, ORLANDO AGREE TO TRADE
In the midst of the free agency madness, we’ve been given a trade.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, and Orlando Magic agreed in principle to a three-team trade.

It’s as follows:

Charlotte gets: Bismack Biyombo.

Orlando gets: Jerian Grant, Timofey Mozgov.

Chiago gets: Julyan Stone.

This trade doesn’t mean nothing, but it doesn’t mean much.
