The season 4 premiere of Better Call Saul is right around the corner and AMC is getting in the marketing mood early with yet another trailer for the next chapter in Jimmy McGill’s story. Though it’s a Breaking Bad prequel, the series has largely managed to sidestep the problem of the audience knowing where this story will eventually end up by introducing a number of new, compelling characters and turning the question of how Jimmy became Saul Goodman — i.e., how Jimmy broke bad — into enough of a mystery to keep people invested. And through stellar performances by Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, Michael Mando, and of course, Michael McKean, and it’s easy to see why Better Call Saul stands on its own more than it does the shoulders of Breaking Bad.

That seems to be particularly true, even as season 4 promises to have even more for Giancarlo Esposito’s Gus Fring to do, as the series begins its descent into the seedy world of drug distribution via fast food chicken franchises. Exactly how Jimmy finds himself embroiled in that scenario isn’t too hard to guess, given his affiliation with several unsavory types who find themselves caught in Fring’s orbit, but it sure seems like this new season will be the one where audiences finally find out one way or another.

So far, the marketing for the new season hasn’t been shy about focusing on the demise of Jimmy’s brother Chuck as a dark turning point for the main character. Though he’s been trying to walk the straight and narrow with varying success for the past three seasons, it’s become increasingly clear that Jimmy’s future doesn’t lie in legitimacy — either professionally or in his everyday persona. As such, the striking image of the season’s new poster successfully encapsulates what is apparently just right around the corner.

The new trailer only offers a few snippets of new footage from what was seen in the full trailer released last week. In fact, it’s almost more of a remix of sorts. Nevertheless, this new look at the season’s storyline offers up a good idea of where things are going and just how big a part Gus, Nacho, and Mike have to play as circumstances have characters venturing further and further onto the wrong side of the law.

But it’s the promise of that kind of criminal behavior that makes Better Call Saul so appealing. And after three seasons getting to know who these characters are, and finding out just how much Jimmy was defined by his contentious relationship with his brother, it sure seems like it’s time to witness the transformation of Jimmy into his most notorious alter ego — at least until the series decides it wants to explore the ins and outs of managing a Cinnabon in Nebraska.

Better Call Saul season 4 premieres Monday, August 6 on AMC.
