Here we will discuss all of the Monster Hunter World issues and errors and will provide you with a possible fix or workaround. So that you can play the game without any problem.

Monster Hunter World Black Screen, Controller Not Working And Fixes

Monster Hunter is the long-running franchise and Monster Hunter World is the first mainstream Monster Hunter title to release for PC and Xbox One. The game revolves around players hunting down monsters either alone or with their friends.

Aside from being the first mainstream Monster Hunter title to come to PC and Xbox One, Monster World boasts a big open-environments filled with monsters and beauty.

However, the game keeps tracks of every monster in the game’s world and their interaction with other monsters. That is the reason why the game is extremely CPU intensive.

Make sure you meet at least the minimum system requirements before playing the game on PC. Also, the following system requirements are for running the game at smooth 30 FPS.

The following are the Monster Hunter World errors and issues that players are experiencing along with their possible fixes and workarounds.

Crash On Startup

Players have reported that as soon as they launch Monster Hunter World, it crashes. There a few reasons for this happen but, the solution is fairly easy if you are using an AMD GPU.

1 – If you are running the game using an AMD GPU then all you need to do is update our drivers to the latest version as older drivers are causing the game to crash at startup.

2 – If you are using a Nvidia GPU and are experiencing the crash on startup then uninstalling and reinstalling the GPU driver might fix the issue for you.

3 – Another reason for the game to crash upon startup is that a third-party software might be interfering with the game’s Denuvo DRM and specifically if you have installed “FAR” mod for NieR Automata.

You either need to uninstall the FAR mod or go to the settings and stop it from injecting. This should resolve the crash on startup issue for you.

4 – Another reason for the game crashing on startup is the Denuvo DRM which requires at least 4th-gen Intel Haswell CPU. If you have a CPU prior to that then you won’t be able to play the game at least, until Capcom releases a patch to fix this.

Game Forcing Big Picture Mode

Players have reported that when they launch Monster Hunter World it forces Steam Big Picture mode which can be annoying for some.

To resolve this issue all you need to do is click Steam -> Settings -> In-Game -> Un-check use Big Picture Overlay when using a Steam Input enabled controller from the desktop. This will fix your issue.

Game Not Saving, Stuck At Caracter Creation

This is another one of the Monster Hunter World issues that players have been experiencing. According to players, when they create their character it goes into a loop of “Want To Save” and doesn’t even save. This results in players being stuck at character creation and not being able to play the game.

One possible fix for this problem is to run Steam as admin. To do this, right-click on Steam-> Properties-> Compatibility and check “Run this program as an administrator”.

The Server Is Not Reachable

There is a possible fix for this problem, however, it might not work for everyone.

The reason why the game is coming up with this error is that of the Anti-virus software or Firewall. You will have to disable the Firewall and the anti-virus as they won’t let the game connect. This should resolve the issue.

Or you can check out this link for a detailed rundown of troubleshooting that might help resolve “The Server Is Not Reachable” issue for good.

Black Screen On Startup Fix

Black Screen pops up quite commonly for PC games, however, it is simple to resolve. Players have reported that when they start the game they only get a black screen while music is playing in the background.

The solution is simple, start the game and when the black screen appears, press “ALT + Enter” and the game will go into the Windowed mode. Now go to the video settings and change the game’s resolution to your display’s native solution and you will be able to play the game in fullscreen.

Another reason for the black screen is the outdated drivers for your GPU. Make sure you are using latest GPU drivers as they bring game-specific optimizations.

Controller Not Working, Steam Controller Not Working

Players have reported that their controller isn’t working with the game whether its Xbox or Dualshock.

The reason why it won’t work is that the game features partial controller support. The solution is simple but might not work for everyone.

All you have to do is click Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > Checkmark Xbox/PS4 Configuration Support. This should make the controller work with Monster Hunter World.

As for those who are trying to play the game with Steam controller. Well, they need to to the configurator and change from the official config to the stock “Gamepad with Camera Controls”. This should let you play the game with Steam Controller.

E-Fail_hr Fix, Crash Fix

This is another one of the Monster Hunter Errors that players have been experiencing. According to PC gamers, when they start the game it crashes and “E-Fail_hr” pops up.

The solution to this problem is simple, just lower your desktop’s resolution to a lower one. Once the game starts you will be able to change it back. This should resolve the issue.

Game Launching In Windowed Mode

Some PC players have reported that the game launches in Windowed mode despite fullscreen is enabled from the settings.

One possible solution to this problem is open Steam and right-click on the game and then Properties -> Compatibility -> Disable fullscreen optimizations. This should resolve the issue.

Low FPS Fix, Stuttering Fix

PC players have reported that the game has some serious performance issue. Part of the reason is that Monster Hunter World is extremely CPU intensive.

To make sure that the game runs properly, make sure there is no unnecessary process running in the background using your CPU. If there is then terminate that process.

Another thing you can try to boost your FPS is open Nvidia Control Panel and select “Manage 3D settings” and then select “Program Settings”.

Here select the game from the list and in the options look for V-sync and set it to “Fast”. While it is unlikely that it will give you a steady 60 FPS boost but it will help a bit in boosting the FPS.

That is all for our Monster Hunter World errors issues and their possible fixes and workarounds. Did we miss anything or have a better solution to a problem? Let us know in the comments.
