After a tease at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Entertainment has announced details of a relaunch of the classic Uncanny X-Men comic book series this November, beginning with a 10-part weekly run featuring almost every member of the team throughout the concept’s history.

The revival will relaunch the series with a new No. 1, and will be written by Ed Brisson, Kelly Thompson and Matthew Rosenberg, with art by a team including Mahmud Asrar, R.B. Silva, Yildiray Cinar and Pere Perez. Together, they’ll be telling a story called “Disassembled” — a reference to the 2004 storyline Avengers Disassembled by Brian Michael Bendis and David Finch, which transformed the Avengers comic book franchise into Marvel’s best-selling property for some years — which will run weekly through early 2019.

Described by Marvel as an “epic tale of mystery and tragic disappearance” and “an adventure so Earth-shattering, it could very well be the X-Men’s FINAL mission,” the weekly storyline with a large cast of both creators and characters is not a new one for Marvel. Indeed, it’s another element borrowed from the Avengers comics, with Avengers: No Surrender running weekly for 16 weeks at the start of 2018 before leading into a new Avengers comic book series.

The frequency of Uncanny X-Men, which is described by Marvel as an “ongoing series,” is unclear beyond the initial 10 issue weekly run. When contacted by The Hollywood Reporter, a spokesperson for the company said that more information would be released at a later date. Uncanny X-Men No. 1 will be released Nov. 14.
