The gaming community has been anticipating Shadow of the Tomb Raider and their wait is finally going to end next month. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is ready for launch on September 14 on PC, PS4, and XBox. Unfortunately, if you were hoping for it to release on Nintendo Switch, we have some bad news.

Heath Smith, the Lead Game Designer at Eidos Montreal revealed in an interview that they have no plans for a Switch version.

Although Lara Croft is a globally admired character and fans from every gaming platform expected to Shadow of the Tomb Raider, it is not going to happen for Nintendo handheld users.

Furthermore, Smith established that as of now Shadow of the Tomb Raider just didn’t fit the Nintendo handheld as it should. However, he admitted that he was himself a fan of the Nintendo Switch.

I’m always a fan of the Nintendo systems, in particular, they really push interface design, and from a game design perspective it’s fun to play with new interfaces. Having said that it’s something that I think we would want to tailor the experience to if we were going to do it.

Since the appearance of Ms. Croft in Tomb Raider Anniversary and Tomb Raider Underworld in the original console, fans haven’t seen Lara Croft grace the Nintendo system.

Maybe the game wasn’t fit for Nintendo consoles due to the detailed world that’s been shown in the trailer of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Developing such a version separately for the Nintendo console is quite a task in itself.

Assuming that Tomb Raider is going to include features from games as classic as Max Payne, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is ready to become the most accessible game of the series yet.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is now available to pre-order.
