Google Pixel 3/3 XL will arrive with "Super Selfies" and an improved Visual Core

Surprise, surprise, yet another Pixel 3 leak has popped up online. The past 48 hours have essentially been non-stop when it comes to Pixel 3 leaks and now the latest one details multiple features that are related to the Pixel’s best-known feature, it’s camera.

According to 9To5Google, the Pixel 3 duo will put a heavy focus on the newly-improved selfies. In fact, the company is reportedly preparing something called “Super Selfies.” At this point in time, it’s unclear exactly what this entails but the new dual-camera setup up front should result in significant improvements to bokeh imagery that will also include some extra enhancements to make the Pixel 3 series stand out. Additionally, while both Pixel 3 devices will once again include the option of enabling a Face retouching feature, new “Natural” and “Soft” image options and the ability to zoom will also be bundled in. On a related note, multiple sources have confirmed that one of the front-facing cameras has a wide-angle lens, allowing users to capture much more in their shots.

In regards to the rear camera, Google is “doubling down on making a single camera powerful enough to not need a second camera” with its new 12.2-megapixel sensor. This will once again produce “incredible” images in low light conditions and will be supported by an updated Visual Core that will “offer more than just HDR+.” However, it’s unclear at this moment what exactly improvements the chip will bring.

Overall, Google’s biggest focus with this generation of the Pixel lineup is said to be the improved portrait selfies. Despite this, however, the brand isn’t committing to dual-camera setups on next-generation devices and will instead continue to evaluate whether the second image sensor is really necessary.
