The Nashville, Tennessee band wowed the city's Bellahouston Park last night (August 22)

Kings of Leon played a huge gig at Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park last night (August 22) ahead of their forthcoming headline slots at Reading & Leeds Festivals this weekend.

Opening the Glasgow Summer Sessions series of gigs, the US rockers started brightly with ‘Happy Alone’ – but, according to The Scottish Sun, the band were met with booing when the sound cut out mid-song during ‘Back Down South’.

It was the only technical issue of the evening, however, and the band continued with a hit-laden, energetic set which drew from across all seven of their studio albums. They were supported earlier in the day by The Wombats, The Hunna, Everything Everything and Isaac Gracie.

Speaking to the crowd, frontman Caleb Followill said: “It’s so good to be here tonight. We’ve been looking forward to this for a long time! It feels like a long time since we’ve been here… we think we’re going to stick around a couple of days.”

The band also performed ‘My Party’, ‘Arizona’ and ‘Radioactive’ together with huge hits ‘Use Somebody’ and ‘Sex on Fire’.

Kings of Leon’s Glasgow gig comes ahead of their headline slots at Reading & Leeds Festivals this weekend.

They will be appearing at the festival alongside a host of new and established acts, including Kendrick Lamar, Panic! At the Disco and Fall Out Boy.

Rumours of artists playing secret sets are already circulating, with Liam Gallagher, Bring Me The Horizon, and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes all the subject of current speculation.
