The Church Of Satan clarifies Marilyn Manson’s role

Is he really "ordained"?

The Church Of Satan has spoken out on Marilyn Manson‘s role within within their religion – revealing that he is not in fact an ordained minister.

The ‘God Of Fuck’ once wrote in his 1998 autobiography The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell that founder Anton Szandor LaVey once certified him “as a minister in the Church of Satan” in 1994, while on tour with Nine Inch Nails.

“Near the end of our visit, he said, ‘I want to make you a Reverend,’ and gave me a crimson card certifying me as a minister in the Church of Satan,” said Manson. “It was like an honorary degree from a university.”

“As I left, LaVey put a bony hand on my shoulder, and, as it lay there coldly, he said, ‘You’re gonna make a big dent. You’re going to make an impression on the world.’”

Now, the Church have responded to this piece of rock n’ roll folklore – denying that the was ordained.

“Almost 30 years ago, he was given an honorary priesthood for his real world accomplishments at the time,” they said. “This is not ‘ordained’ nor is it related to anything he might say decades later.”

Meanwhile, Manson recently received medical treatment after collapsing on stage during a show in Houston.

As he performed a cover of The Eurythmics’ ‘Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This’, Manson was seen falling down before eventually coming to rest on one of the stage monitors. Moments before the incident, he reportedly told the crowd that he was suffering from “heat poisoning”.

“Thanks Houston for being understanding. I ended up in doctor’s care, but I gave it my best and you guys were amazing”, he confirmed on Twitter.

Youtube sensation Poppy recently spoke to NME about her wish to work with the ‘legendary’ Manson.

“I’ve talked to him before,” she said. “He said that he likes my videos and then I said that I like his art. I met him on Twitter too. I tend to meet everyone on Twitter, but poor Twitter. Twitter doesn’t seem to be doing so well right now.”
