A MAN is fighting for his life after being knifed 'multiple times' in broad daylight in south London.

The 23-year-old is in a critical condition after the incident late on Friday afternoon in the Tulse Hill area.

The incident is the latest in a wave of stabbings that has hit the capital, where knife crime has increased 16 per cent.

Police say they were called to reports of a group of males fighting at Roupell Road, SW2 at around 5.15pm.

Video taken at the scene shows a police car blocking off a road.

"At the scene a 23-year-old male was found suffering a number of stab wounds. The suspects had fled the scene," said a Met Police spokesman.

"The injured male was taken to a south London hospital where his condition is currently critical.

"At this early stage there have been no arrests. A knife has been recovered by officers."

Recent figures show that knife crime in London is at a 10 year high.

There were 1,299 stabbings in London up to the end of April, according to official statistics from the Met Police.

Recent weeks have seen a number of stabbings near to where the latest incident took place.

On July 12, Katerina Makunova, 17, was found dead in a block of flats in Camberwell after a broad daylight attack

An 18-year-old man, Latwaan Griffiths, was also stabbed to death in Camberwell, on July 25.

A week later, on August 1, a 23-year-old was stabbed to death in Camberwell.

The victim, who was rapper in the drill group Moscow17, was identified only by his stage name, Incognito.

A glut of cocaine flooding the country has been partly blamed for upsurge in violent crime.

Excluding those killed in terror attacks like London Bridge, Westminster and Manchester, there was still a 12 per cent rise in murders — the highest numbers in a decade.

The grisly murder toll in London has now reached 100 after a pensioner was found dead following a house fire.

Carole Harrison, 73, was discovered in her home in leafy Teddington, South West London, following a blaze in the early hours of Wednesday.
Shootings show no sign of abating, and there have been three in the capital in four days.

In the latest incident, a man was shot in Southall, west London on Thursday evening.

It comes after CCTV footage emerged of a hooded thug opening fire in broad daylight near to Rayners Lane tube station.

The incident is thought to be related to an ongoing turf war between two rival drill gangs.

On August 20 three people were injured in a drive-by shooting outside Kingsbury tube station at about 9.45pm.

Anyone who witnessed the Tulse Hill incident, has footage or can identify those involved is asked to call Lambeth Police quoting CAD5375/24AUG, Tweet @MetCC, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
