Atletico and Real Madrid to fight for Marcos Alonso; Aaron Ramsey’s huge demand

Recommended Posts

REAL and Atletico Madrid are set to battle for the signature of a Chelsea star, while Aaron Ramey has made a huge demand in order to sign a contract extension at Arsenal.

That and more in another edition of Rumour Mill!

MADRID SIDES BATTLE FOR ALONSO
Chelsea star Marcos Alonso is reportedly at the centre of a transfer tug of war between crosstown rivals Atletico and Real Madrid.

Spanish outlet AS report both La Liga giants are admirers of the full back who is shaping up as an affordable option.

Alonso is allegedly available for a fee in the region of €30m (A$47m).

A Real youth product, the 27-year-old has enjoyed considerable success at Stamford Bridge since joining from Fiorentina in 2016, winning a Premier League title and being named in last season’s PFA team of the year.

Could the Spanish international be set for a move home?

MOURINHO IN MARTIAL STANDOFF
Jose Mourinho is reportedly locked in a standoff with Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward over the future of forward Anthony Martial.

According to the Daily Star, Mourinho has pleaded with the club to sell Martial before the transfer window closes next week, as he believes the Frenchman is not up to standard.

The Portuguese tactician is keen to use his sale to fund January arrivals.

However Woodward is holding firm, disagreeing with the manager and refusing to part with the player.

While The Sun suggest that Martial is keen to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his spot.

RAMSEY’S GUNNERS DEMAND
Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey is allegedly demanding a significant increase to his pay packet in order to sign a contract extension at the club.

The Standard report the Gunners are insisting they won’t be ‘held to ransom’ by the midfielder, who was said to be seeking a wage on par with teammate Mesut Ozil’s massive £350,000 (A$614k) a week deal.

Ramsey and the club are said to be ‘some way apart’ in ongoing negotations, as the Welsh star holds out for at least a doubling of his current £110,000 (A$193k) a week wages.

Not exactly what new Arsenal boss Unai Emery needs as he seeks to put his stamp on the club.
