An Xbox version of Hunt Showdown is coming to the Xbox Game Preview function, allowing players to play the early versions of the game alongside the PC version, enabling you to hunt otherworldly monsters in a variety of different maps in the backwoods of America back in the 1800s.

Hunt Showdown was originally called Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, but the gameplay remains the same, a team of players hunting down otherworldly beasts and all of the threats that come with them. Players take on the role of an order of hunters, whose mission it is to protect humanity, kill monsters, and sell the carcasses of their kills for profit.

However, the monsters that you fight aren’t the only things that are going to be hunting you through the various places you walk. Other players will also be hunting the same monsters that you are, and there’s nothing stopping them from trying to kill you too, not helping that the game itself also has a permadeath mechanic.

Right now the game doesn’t have very much content with it, with only a few enemies and only two bosses, but hopefully as the game continues to be developed, we’ll get more content and it will become a well-regarded multiplayer game.

At the same time, however, there’s still no release date for the game, though the Xbox version of Hunt Showdown will hopefully be able to get some more content added in it that will make it a playable game that can gather a lot of multiplayer people involved, and hopefully avoid the same sort of situation that another monster-hunting game, Evolve, ran into when it released.

Once again, we don’t know when the game will release, but hopefully you’ll be able to play an Xbox version of Hunt Showdown fairly soon. Otherwise you can buy it on the PC for around thirty dollars.
