The Weeknd has debuted two new songs during the second episode of his Beats 1 show ‘Memento Mori’.

One is a remix of his ‘My Dear Melancholy’ track ‘Try Me’ that features additional guest contributions from Quavo of Migos, Trouble, and Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee.

The artist’s radio show kicked off in June, with the second episode airing yesterday (August 23) at 5pm.

This month saw the R&B artist contribute to two new albums – Nicki Minaj’s ‘Queen’ and Travis Scott’s chart-topping ‘Astroworld’. NME have ‘Astroworld’ a score of 10/10.

Earlier this year, he revealed that he had finished work on a “very upbeat” and “beautiful” album but that will never be released.

After the release of ‘My Dear Melancholy’, the ‘I Feel It Coming’ artist revealed that he had an entirely different record written and complete. He said that the project was shelved as it doesn’t reflect his current feelings.

“Prior to Melancholy, I had a whole album written, done, which wasn’t melancholy at all because it was a different time in my life…It was very upbeat — it was beautiful,” he told Time.

He continued: “I don’t want to perform something that I don’t feel.” Asked if fans will ever hear the scrapped material, he replied: “Never.”

During the chat, The Weeknd described the recording process of ‘My Dear Melancholy’ – named his ‘breakup album’ – as “therapeutic”.

“You want to get it out,” he explained. “It’s like you close a chapter.”
