West Coast Eagles fans frustrated over ticket delays

Recommended Posts

Several West Coast supporters have taken to social media after experiencing issues with Ticketmaster ahead of their team’s qualifying final against Collingwood at Optus Stadium.

Tickets went on sale this morning for the first ever final at the 60,000-seat Burswood venue, between the Eagles and Magpies on September 8.

“I love that Ticketmaster is apparently here 9am-8pm if we ‘need nelp’. AFL finals and poof, no-one,” one fan posted.

There were several complaints about money being taken out of peoples’ accounts without a confirmation email.

Ticketmaster asked fans waiting for tickets online to be patient and not refresh the website.

“If you're purchasing @AFL or Competing Club members tickets for WCE v Collingwood #AFLFinals and you're waiting in a queue, please sit tight and don't refresh your page. The queuing system ensures that the purchase process runs smoothly under high demand,” they posted on Twitter.

The first contest between the clubs at Optus Stadium is likely to set a new sports attendance record for WA.

The record stands at 57,616.

Finals are hosted by the AFL so members do not retain their regular seats. West Coast and Collingwood members have exclusive access to tickets from 9am to 1pm.

It comes as Ticketek has failed Victorian AFL fans, shutting down online sales for the forthcoming finals series as it struggles to meet demand.

AFL clubs have communicated with members to apologise for the blunder, with tickets to go back on sale after the problems have been rectified.

Richmond and Hawthorn kick off the 2018 finals next Thursday night at the MCG, with a crowd of over 80,000 expected despite the mid-week scheduling.
