A TEENAGER and a 28-year-old man have been killed in a Bank Holiday fireball car crash.

The pair died following the horrific collision near Newton Abbot in Devon at 5.45pm yesterday.

A 17-year-old boy was a passenger in the Jaguar vehicle being driven by the 28-year-old and they both died at the scene.

Police confirmed the driver of the other Jaguar- a man in his 60s - suffered life-changing injuries and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital.

Eight selfless eyewitnesses who saw the crash sprinted over towards the wreckage and the huge flames.

Ben Robson-Burrell, 25, was driving home and ran over with seven others following the incident.

He told Devon Live: "As I drove closer I could see the smoke, the flames were huge.

"Three lads were trying to yank the back door off. I went inside the car to reach the older gentlemen inside.

“We were trying to get him out of the back because the front was so crumpled. There was a man talking to him, to help him relax."

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: "At around 5.45pm, police received reports of a collision between two Jaguars on the B3193 Clay Pits Way, Kingsteignton, in Devon.

"The driver, a 28-year-old man, and his passenger, a 17-year-old both boy from Chudleigh, died at the scene.

"Formal identification has yet to have taken place, but next of kin for both parties have been informed.

"The driver of the second car, a man in his 60s also from Chudleigh has suffered life-changing injuries and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital.

"Anyone with any information that can assist the Serious Collisions Unit with their investigation is asked to email [email protected] quoting log number 771 for the 27 of August."
