There’s still over a month until the official unveiling of Huawei’s Mate 20 series but this hasn’t stopped the Pro model from becoming the subject of multiple leaks recently. And, adding to previous information and essentially confirming the final design, a dummy unit of Huawei’s next smartphone has appeared online.

As previously reported, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro will adopt a new curved OLED panel up front, creating a look that is similar to that of Samsung’s most recent flagships. However, Huawei appears to have taken the bezel-less concept a step further by reducing the thickness of the bottom chin significantly and also reducing the bezel area on either side of the notch. Additionally, it has included razor-thin bezels on either side of the display. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 includes matching top and bottom bezels that are seemingly thicker, and actually increases the width of its side bezels when compared to last year’s Galaxy Note 8.

Just as mentioned above, Huawei’s next flagship also includes a notch above the display. While this one is quite a bit bigger than the one expected on the regular Mate 20, it’s set to be home to a 24-megapixel front-facing camera and a new Face ID-like technology that should improve the device’s security significantly. Also, while on the topic of security, an in-display fingerprint scanner is reportedly included too.

When it comes to the rear design, no images of the dummy unit from this angle have appeared. However, previous leaks have revealed that a square-shaped camera module complete with rounded corners will sit in the middle of the rear. This will then be home to a P20 Pro-like triple-camera layout and a dual-tone LED flash.

In regards to the smartphone’s availability, Huawei has already confirmed that it will officially unveil the Mate 20 Pro alongside the Mate 20 on October 16 in London. Presumably, sales will then commence a couple of weeks later before the beginning of November. However, it’s unclear if Huawei’s flagships will continue to undercut those of Apple and Samsung.
