It's back on BBC 2 tonight

Idles and King Princess are among the leading acts as Later….With Jools Holland returns to screens tonight.

The iconic BBC Two music show returns at 10pm – and it’s promising a suitably impressive line-up for its 53rd series.

Idles will make their debut on the show, alongside 19-year-old Brooklyn singer King Princess.

They’ll be joined by an impressive array of established acts including Jess Glynne, Soft Cell and veteran songwriter Ralph McTell.

According to the BBC, the rest of the series promises performances from the likes of Muse, Neneh Cherry, Paul Weller, Joe Bonamassa, Interpol, Sigrid and Jungle.

Last year, Jools Holland discussed the show with NME – and explained how it still provided a consistent platform for new acts to break through.

“That’s the great thing about music: it’s timeless. And it’s about this great people now, it’s not about the so called ‘golden age’”, he explained.

“It’s been going on forever, and there is always something new and great coming up. That’s why it’s important to encourage that, and I’m pleased we’re in a position where we can do that. All we want to do on the show is celebrate the music, so we capture what they’re about, we don’t have any other agenda. It’s not about jeopardy, we just need to have the people doing what they do, expressing themselves.”
