"Man Bites Dog" is definitely my favorite movie of all time, very intriguing and quite disturbing French film. "The Machinist" is also quite high up there in terms of "wtf" factor

Butterfly effect?

Donnie Darko?

Gladiator?

Paranormal activity?

Mirrors?

The killing room?

Gosh, there are just too many of them...

Frailty (2001)

A horror/thriller directed by Bill Paxton and Starring Matthew McConaughey. Not exactly what you would expect from the description. Honestly, it blew my mind. Everyone I've ever shown it to has enjoyed it as well.

+1 for Mulholland Dr. All of David Lynch's films are mind-f's, but Mulholland Dr. is more "explainable" than some of his others.

The anime Akira, pretty mindf***. also suprised no ones mentioned the movie Pi. also The Fountain that movie is crazy.

- Funny Games was cute, but more of a "I'm going to break all the rules" type of movie rather than a psychological thriller.

- There's a good deal of movies mentioned here that I've never heard of that I'm interested in seeing now.

- Of the films I have seen, I am going to say Momento is definitely the best in this category. It's not "better" than The Matrix as a film, but it's the best in this particular category since The Matrix had a lot of other things going on as well (such as being a technically revolutionary action film). It's better than Pi, because Pi is *too* much of a mind-fuck. (If you can't figure out a movie without a timeline map, it's just too complicated). And it's also superior to Donny Darko because Momento can be watched at face value, or you can really go in-depth and think about what happened and figure it all out, which is rewarding, while Donny Darko doesn't really offer a whole lot beyond what you see on screen. It's the perfect middle-ground.

I really like the Prestige, Memento and Inception. I found Donnie Darko really hard to get, but still a great film. Now there is a movie that is unbearable, known as The Primer. Shitiest thing I've ever seen. Two other mindfucks that I heard are really good are: Mulholland Drive and Mr. Nobody

Cube (1997). If you can look past the film school dialog this one is a classic. i believe it is where SAW got its inspiration, but don't get me wrong, it is no SAW. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0123755/

I second this. It's great movie, but unfortunately like you said the dialog is not so good as well as some of the acting.

Primer.... by far... it's like Inception on acid. Multiple timelines overlapping and running into each other. Check out the diagrams people have made in order to try and figure it out. I watched it, read stuff online and watched it again and then only kind of got it.
