If everyone is wanting to trade invites - how does someone get their first invite to a private tracker? Seriously - I have no idea how this would work...

The two ways to start are to look for kind people giving away invites and look for open signup trackers. There are forums for both of these on this site. You're not likely to get into very exclusive trackers this way, but its a place to start. Next, build a good ratio and uploaded total. Many trackers give you invites in exchange for being a good uploader, and you can use these to trade for other trackers (make sure to follow their rules about invites, though). Also, having good upload stats makes it more likely someone will trust you enough to give you a invite (you'll see giveaways requiring ratio proofs).

The best way is just contribute to sites that give away invites, or you can go to filsharefreak.com or filenetworks.net to get an idea of what tracker has open signups or any special events.

Another way would be to join high level sites like What.cd that have open signups via IRC. If you can build a high enough ratio you can get access to the Power User forums which have open recruitment into several other sites.

If you don't know anyone with invites, the easiest way is to lurk IRC channels. I got my what.cd invite through the IRC interview, and got my black-cats invite by just lurking around different channels until I got lucky.

But it always helps to know someone ;)

I have started with free trackers, then few easy to get ones , after making friends everywhere i got many invites to different trackers of variable contents.

filenetworks blog always let ppl know abuot giveaways to a praticular tracker or when a certain 'hard to get into' tracker opens its doors for interviews, or decides to giveaway 100 invites.. google them, it's a really good site :)

well i got started with demonoid and then with ipt......

ipt was a total luck thing one stranger invited me and i have lived up to the trust he had in me.....i didnt do anything stupid....from there on you get moving and making friends........:)

I started out with open trackers and trackers with temp open signups (some are GREAT) and the giveaway section (Thats how I got torrentleech) Then you are off to trading. Good luck.

Start with smaller ones : Getting invites or signing up for smaller private trackers is pretty easy. Get a few level 1's . Then do good on them, show proof of all the level 1's to someone that has a level 2 tracker giveaway. Eventually by doing this, you'll be going 1 level up at a time. It might take a bit of time, but its well worth the wait and effort ;)

can't stress it enough....take giveaway invites when they are offered. There are plenty of great sites being offered up for free, but for whatever reason it seems people don't want them. Sites like DH, IPT ect. are great sites. They may not be the fastest, but they are usually "fast enough" to download and still cross-seed to better sites. In addition, they've got lots of freeleech to build yourself a nice ratio. Don't snub these kind of sites just because others don't like them!
