Carry on, mate, carry on! :)

.....this is just to help you:

Cross seed torrent releases when files don't match 100% using minimal extra space: ( Short GUIDE )

Goal:

This guide will teach you a simple solution to properly cross seed (100% complete seed) the same releases across multiple sites, even when the releases have minute hash/filesize differences. You can easily do this, all while using minimal additional hard drive space.

Introduction:

I, as many others do, cross seed the same releases on as many sites as I can. More often than not, identical Scene and P2P releases have slight variations in file size/content from tracker to tracker. If you have ever attempted to cross seed, you have most surely been through this scenario:

1. You download This.Here.Release-L33TGroup from TrackerA and it completes to 100%.

2. You download the same release This.Here.Release-L33TGroup from TrackerB to seed it there too, and it only hashes out to 99.X%

Plight:

If you simply download TrackerBTorrent from 99.X% to 100% in the same folder, this new data, which doesn't match TrackerATorrent will cause data corruption to TrackerATorrent hopefully causing your client to stop TrackerATorrent with a request to re-check files. (Sometimes a client won't stop it. See worst case scenario this section.).

If you only seed 99% of the TrackerBTorrent without downloading the remaining data, you now rely on others to keep the torrent alive on TrackerB, Eg: you are listed as a leecher and cannot keep the torrent alive yourself.

And lastly, the worst case scenario is when data is overwritten and a torrent client continues seeding both releases. This last scenario is the reason that some torrents which are listed as having a complete seeder, will never download to 100%. The "seeder" has improper data as a result of overwriting data and is sending improper data that your client cannot verify via checksum.

Without some nifty solution (Listed below), the only way to seed the same releases in the case of TrackerAtorrent and TrackerBtorrent not having the same hash, is to have two complete copies of the respective torrent folder on your hard drive. This is not an economical solution.

Guide: The Nifty Solution

(Don't let the length of this discourage you. It is very simple and straight forward)

Necessary Programs:

Prerequisite; Microsoft Visual C++ 2010

Main Program; Link Shell Extension aka hardlinkshellext

Link: http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/hardlinkshellext.html#download

Install in order: [*]1. vcredist_x86 or vcredist_x64.exe depending on your OS. [*]2. Link Shell Extension

Preparation before Hardlink creation:

We will be using Utorrent for this guide but the same principle should apply on all clients.

Add the torrent you want to cross seed into your client without starting it.

Check the files already on your hard drive and see which files on TrackerBtorrent check to 100% and which ones didn't.

Make note of the files that didn't hash check to 100%.

Make a new folder for the TrackerBTorrent.

Creating Hardlinks:

To create HardLinks for all of the files that checked to 100% from the original TrackerA folder into the newly created TrackerB folder follow these steps.

1. Select all files that checked to 100%, right click, and choose "Pick Link Source"

2. Drop hardlinks into the newly created folder by right clicking in the newly created folder. Then hover over "Drop As.." and select "Hardlink"

3. Copy (not hardlink) the files that "didn't" check to 100% from the original folder into the newly created TrackerB folder.

4. Remove the second torrent from your client and re-add it. This time select the newly created TrackerB folder as the download location and start your torrent.

Your client will download the small amount of data remaining on the TrackerB torrent and you will be seeding both torrents at 100% while only taking up the extra disk space of the files you copied in step 3 of "Creating Hardlinks". Hardlinks do not take up extra space.

You can use this same process to seed the same files to as may sites as you can.

Feel free to post and disseminate this guide anywhere and in way you see fit. I don't need or want any credit. Thank you and happy seeding
