A new video released by Eidos Montreal has shown off the new Shadow of the Tomb Raider hub, an ancient city known as Paititi. Paititi and its surrounding area will be the game’s main setting as Lara Croft attempts to stop a Mayan apocalypse from happening because of Trinity.

Paititi, much like the Remnants in Rise of the Tomb Raider, is an area that’s been passed by time due to its isolation, a remnant of the Mayan culture that’s benefitted from its isolation. Within it Lara will be able to visit stores, take on sidequests, and use it as a place to resupply and use as a reference point while you’re out exploring the jungle and going through crypts.

Much like with all of the Tomb Raider games, the Shadow of the Tomb Raider hub that Paititi is looks gorgeous, with ancient Mayan structures, picturesque jungle, and what looks like plenty of places to explore, so hopefully with what promises to be a fairly ambitious game we’ll be seeing a lot more videos in the future as we get to know the area more.

Central America will be a pretty big difference from both a Japanese island and a lost Siberian city, along with a difference in culture from those other cultures, but hopefully Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be just as great as the other games. Not to mention in addition to the game’s story and all the different locations you’ll be exploring, there will also be plenty of tombs to explore.

We’ve already posted a story that talked about all of the different Mayan-style puzzles that we’ll be seeing in the game’s various tombs, so seeing all of the other things that Eidos has come up with over the course of the game’s development will likely be just as much of a treat.

You can see the Shadow of the Tomb Raider hub video for yourself looking further up this article, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider comes out on September 14 for the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.
