John Carpenter has announced his new soundtrack for the forthcoming Halloween reboot.

The filmmaker and musician, who directed and scored the original Halloween film back in 1978, will return to the franchise as composer for the upcoming movie, which is set for release on October 19. David Gordon Green has directed the new film, with Carpenter serving as an executive producer.

Carpenter’s soundtrack will be released on the same day that Halloween hits cinemas, and is set to feature collaborations with Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies. The score includes several new versions of the original Halloween theme from 1978 – and you can watch a teaser trailer for the soundtrack below.

Speaking about the choice of music for the film, Daniel Davies said: “We wanted to honour the original Halloween soundtrack in terms of the sounds we used.

“We used a lot of the Dave Smith OB-6, bowed guitar, Roland Juno, Korg, Roli, Moog, Roland System 1, Roland System 8, different guitar pedals, mellotron, and piano.”

Carpenter will tour the UK and Europe later this year in support of the release of the soundtrack – you can see his scheduled live dates below and find tickets here.

The first trailer for the upcoming reboot of Halloween was unveiled back in June. The film is intended to be a direct sequel to the events which are depicted in the original 1978 movie.
