Updates and requests.

It's been a while since we've sent out one of these messages. We, the staff, hope it finds you well.
For people who've been here for a while (some of you have been around since the foundation of DT almost 2 decades ago), you might remember a chat box we used to have on the home page. It's been gone for a while now, but we do have a substitute - Discord! We've been there for a while, so come on over and relive the old days where you have a place to talk about movies, series, music, food, travel, memes, cricket, and a whole lot more! You'll get to talk to your fellow DT'ians, uploaders and staff. Discord is also where you can get quick support, should you need it - we've been using Discord as our support platform for a while. You'll also get quick updates on the latest posts on there, so you another way to quickly check when you're favorite movie, series or music album gets posted! With the T20 World Cup quickly approaching, we'll be running a daily tournament where you can bid BONUS POINTS on conditions (who's going to won, who's going to score how many runs, who's going to take how many wickets, etc.) and double them if you guess correctly! So come on over, there's a quick verification process and then you're in. Follow this link - Discord invite. Specific note to uploaders - you are required to be on Discord for important updates and directives, so if you are not please join asap.
If you've been wondering why you can't invite your family/friends, we've shut down the invite system for the foreseeable future. Partly because we've moved to an application system (where new members need to show proof of being active on at least 2 private trackers and have those accounts for at least 6 months each) and partly because we've got some reports of people selling invites (sometimes as high as $300). If we wanted invites sold, we would have been doing that ourselves. But we don't believe in that, we're all about sharing and bringing a smile to our users face - at no cost, so absolutely no selling of invites! If you've sold invites, we will find you!
Now, just because we don't sell invites doesn't mean we don't have costs. But we will never force anyone to donate! All we can do is request it. If DT brings you joy, you'd like to see it thrive even more, and have the means, then we request you to donate. Donations come with perks of their own, depending on how much you want to donate. If you would like to, then please open a ticket on Discord and we'll give you more info on the perks you will be getting and the duration of them. But keep in mind - donating does not mean you'll be free from the repercussions of breaking rules. We will not compromise on the standards that have made us the #1 Desi content private tracker on the internet! Your donations will help us make DT even better and bring more content for you to enjoy.
We'd like to make you aware of a couple of things that can be very beneficial to your DT account - FREELEECH and DOUBLE UPLOAD designations. If you don't know what they are, let us explain -
Let's take an example of a torrent that's 5 GB is size and is a FREELEECH AND DOUBLE UPLOAD.
a) FREELEECH - these torrents do not count against your download stats. So the 5 GB will not be added to your downloaded numbers. But whatever you upload will count towards you. So if you upload 10 GB towards this torrent, you get 0 KB go against you but 10 GB go for you!
b) DOUBLE UPLOAD - these torrents give you double the number of whatever you upload. So if you are able to upload 10 GB, then it will count as 20 GB towards your account.
Both of these will help you pad up your stats and make your ratio better. But keep in mind H&R rules still apply to FREELEECH and DOUBLE UPLOAD torrents, so if you don't do the minimum your account will be hit with a H&R warning.
How do you find out if a torrent if FREELEECH and DOUBLE UPLOAD? Simple, open a post and check the FEATURED field in the DETAILS sections. It'll tell you all you need to know.
Another thing we'd like to request you start doing is pressing that THANKS button. It doesn't that anything from you, but it lets the uploader know their work is appreciated and encourages them to bring you more! Everyone in the staff and uploader teams are volunteers, we don't get paid to do any of this (we actually pay out of our own pockets), so the simple act of clicking a button goes a long way in telling us you enjoy what we do.
On a final note, we'd like to remind everyone of some of the rules we've been seeing broken the most - lack of activity! If you go through the GOLDEN RULES, you'll notice there is a requirement of activity once at least every 3 months. Activity does not mean logging on to the website, you need to actually download/seed something to be considered active. Failing to do so will result in a ban. You might ask why? The reason is DT relies on its users to stay alive - if you don't do your part and seed content (even or the minimum amount) then content won't survive. Our long term availability is another reason why DT is the preferred Desi tracker for most, we don't stop seeding a few days after posting content! We try our best to have content available for years, and you seeding helps everyone!
In conclusion, we hope you continue enjoying this passion project of ours as we keep DT to newer heights. Our aim to take DT to such a place that it's spoken in the same breath as some of the other great trackers out there. We aim to give Desis all over the world a place to come together, enjoy some great South Asian media, and connect with other users just like them. Hope to see you on our Discord server soon, we'll try to send more messages throughout the year to keep everyone posted on the latest DT developments, and keep and eye out for new and exciting changes we're working on.
