  1. Day to forget for Ricciardo in Azerbaijan Lewis Hamilton celebrated one of the luckiest wins of his career after a crash-strewn and chaotic Azerbaijan Grand Prix that catapulted him into the lead of the Formula One world championship. Last year's race winner Daniel Ricciardo crashed out in the 40th lap after driving in to the back of Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen in an attempt to move from fifth to fourth spot. Hamilton's surprise victory came after Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas suffered a puncture with three laps left while leading, ended a six race drought for the four times champion dating back to last October. It was also the first victory of the season for champions Mercedes. In a race where the safety car again played a major part, with a series of crashes and smashes, Kimi Raikkonen finished second for Ferrari while Mexican Sergio Perez was third for Force India. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, who had led the championship before Baku and looked to be on course for a 50th career win and third out of four this season, started on pole position but finished fourth. Hamilton now has 70 points to Vettel's 66. ."It was quite an emotional race. Valtteri did an exceptional job and deserved to win, Sebastian also did a great job so it feels a bit odd to be up here," commented Hamilton on the podium. "Definitely an untidy race for me." The Briton had started on the front row for the first time since he took pole in the Australian season-opener but never looked like winning until Lady Luck removed both Vettel and Bottas from the equation. "It was such a crazy race, such an exciting race...to come out with a win, I feel incredibly grateful," said Hamilton, who went to commiserate with Bottas after parking up his car at the finish. Spaniard Carlos Sainz was fifth for Renault with Monegasque rookie Charles Leclerc sixth for Sauber, his first points in Formula One. New Zealander Brendon Hartley was also celebrating his first point after taking 10th for Toro Rosso. McLaren, who had their worst qualifying of the season on Saturday, ended up with a double points finish -- Fernando Alonso seventh and Stoffel Vandoorne ninth. Canadian teenager Lance Stroll, third in Baku last year, finished eighth to give struggling former champions Williams their first points of the year. Only 13 cars finished the race.
  2. Horrific 150km/h crash leaves speedway community in shock YOUNG speedway star Reid Mackay is fighting for his life after rolling his car multiple times in an accident that has shocked the speedway community. Mackay, 25, lost control of his car at an estimate 150km/h, flying over the safety wall during a heat of the Sydney City Speed Car 50 lap classic at Parramatta Speedway. Emergency crews rushed to the crash site before he was taken to Westmead hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition. Fellow speedway driver Darren Jenkins praised the efforts of the crash crew. “The crash crews got to him very quickly, we couldn’t have asked for any better care (from the crew),” said Jenkins. The Mackay family is speedway royalty, with Reid’s grandfather Ronnie a fellow champion. Spectator and father of a young speedway driver Scott Hourigan was in shock after witnessing the scary scene. “I think the crowd was a bit shocked of how violent the roll and how quick it was,” Hourigan said. “My son was in a crash in October so it’s a bit raw for me, so I feel for the family. “The speedway family will get together and help them through it and help Reid as well.”
  3. David Hayes’s Lindsay Park stable big team THE Lindsay Park stable will launch a three-pronged assault on Saturday’s $1 million Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville as it chases its first win in the Group 1 race in almost 30 years. The stable has nominated four horses for the Sangster — Catchy, Formality, Tulip and Miss Gunpowder — and co-trainer Ben Hayes said the first three would all be among final acceptors when the field is drawn on Tuesday morning. “Catchy, Formality and Tulip are definites but Miss Gunpowder is still a maybe at this stage,” Hayes said. “This is one of the tougher editions of the race that I’ve seen. “There are so many quality fillies and mares going to it this year. “I think all three of our horses have shown they’re up to Group 1 level. “Catchy was impressive last start, Tulip was competitive in The Everest and Formality is a multiple Group winner and we definitely think she’s Group 1 class. “On their day I think any of them could win but I do think this is an exceptionally strong field. “It’s going to come down to the draws and luck in running. “Most likely the horse that gets the best run will win.” Lindsay Park hasn’t snared the Sangster since the late Colin Hayes trained Leica Western to victory in the 1990 edition of the race, his second success in the feature following Wicked Smile’s win three years earlier. Catchy, a strong-finishing last-start winner of the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint at Randwick, is the highest rated of the Lindsay Park runners in Ladbrokes fixed-odds markets for the Robert Sangster Stakes. The three-year-old filly has been marked at $9, while Formality and Tulip are $13 and $15 respectively. Star SA sprinter Viddora remains the clear-cut favourite at $4.50. Lindsay Park also has Earth Angel and Pure Scot among nominations for the Group 1 $500,000 Schweppes Oaks (2000m) and Hayes confirmed both fillies would take their place in the field. “We’ve been really happy with Earth Angel’s past two runs in Adelaide,” he said. “She’s been hitting the line strongly both times and we think she’ll run out the 2000m. “If she draws a nice barrier and gets some luck, she can be competitive. “Pure Scot has always been a promising horse. We’re hoping she can stay and we thought her run last start was good enough to earn a crack at the Oaks.”
  4. Waller on sizzling pace for another metro record CHAMPION trainer Chris Waller is on pace to break his own record for most metropolitan wins in a season. With the 2017-18 season entering its last quarter, Waller has an unassailable lead in the trainers premiership and his Hawkesbury brace from Sambro and Up ‘N’ Rolling improved his tally to 139 Sydney wins, well clear of nearest rival James Cummings on 73 wins. Waller will claim his eighth successive Sydney premiership this season but can he break his record of 169 wins set in 2015-16? There have been 87 Sydney meetings so far this season and Waller is averaging 1.59 wins per meeting. If he can maintain that for the remaining 28 meetings, he will exceed 180 Sydney wins. Waller could even nudge 200 Sydney wins, once an unthinkable achievement considering Tommy Smith’s record of 156 wins set in 1975-76 stood until Waller arrived. EMERGING STARS SHOW THEIR REAL WORTH GRAFF and Roman Son didn’t win the Hawkesbury feature races but they might turn out to be the best gallopers to emerge from a quality stand-alone meeting last Saturday. Trainer Kris Lees admitted he had given up on Graff mid-race when the unbeaten colt looked to be under pressure in the TAB Clarendon Stakes but he was strong through the line to score a narrow win. Graff has won his only two starts and is now being set for the BRC Sires Produce Stakes-JJ Atkins Stakes feature double at the Brisbane winter carnival. Roman Son won the Provincial Stayer’s Handicap with authority and again demonstrated a brilliant burst of acceleration to close off his race. Trainer Richard Freedman is trying to keep a lid on Roman Son’s growing boom but conceded he is likely to set the four-year-old for the Brisbane Cup next month. HAWKES ON SONG AT HAWKESBURY TEAM Hawkes celebrated a feature double at Hawkesbury with two gallopers who finally broke through at stakes level. Kingsguard produced a career-best effort, winning the Group 3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup, and is now likely to be aimed at the Scone Cup. He will never be the best in the Hawkes stable but the gelding has now amassed nearly $400,000 in prizemoney and there is no reason he can’t continue his momentum at Scone. Glenall is a lightly raced four-year-old loaded with ability and his win in the Listed Hawkesbury XXXX Gold Rush could mean the sprinter is ready to realise his potential. The Hawkes stable missed out in the Hawkesbury Guineas but the run of their filly, Montrachet, to finish fourth after striking trouble at the top of the straight was outstanding. Montrachet was going to the races for just the third time. STAND-ALONE MEETING CONTINUES TO GROW THE Hawkesbury stand-alone meeting, which featured four stakes races and $1.2 million in prizemoney, again attracted a bumper crowd of just under 10,000 with betting turnover topping $7 million. Hawkesbury Race Club chief executive Greg Rudolph revealed plans to further boost the race day next year with a likely prizemoney increase for the TAB Clarendon Stakes to at least $150,000 (up from $125,000), which the club hopes will coincide with its elevation to Listed status. Rudolph indicated prizemoney for the Godolphin Crown would rise to $200,000 from $25,000 to bring it into line with the other Group 3 races on the program, the Guineas and Gold Cup, while the TAB Highway race would rise from 1100m to either 1300m or 1400m to allow for a better progression for bush sprinters aimed at the Scone Country Cup. The club is about to open its new Polytrack training surface and will soon start constructing a new stable complex with 50 on-course boxes. NASH HAS PASSPORT CONFISCATED BESIEGED jockey Nash Rawiller’s passport has been confiscated as the Hong Kong ICAC continues its investigation of the betting scandal. Rawiller was disqualified for 15 months by stewards last week for receiving gifts or money in exchange for race tips on horses he rode. The former champion Sydney jockey was also found to have had on diverse occasions an interest in bets on horses, with those bets being facilitated by people known to him. There is no suggestion Rawiller had bet or tipped against his own rides. Rawiller was detained at Hong Kong airport when trying to catch a flight back to Australia then held for 48 hours. DUFF’S SNAPSHOT: HAWKESBURY SKY Thoroughbred Central’s Ron Dufficy gives his assessment of the best performances from the Hawkesbury stand-alone meeting on Saturday. RUN OF THE DAY Roman Son appears to have a bigger fan base than Justin Bieber at his peak but he is delivering the goods at this early stage. On a day were they weren’t running sizzling times he broke the race record and did it in fine style. He has been beautifully placed by trainer Richard Freedman but it is time to test the water at a better level to see where he really stands. FORGET THEY RAN Victorem was a beaten favourite in the Guineas but he was far from disgraced. Understandably he had to go back in a moderately run race from an awkward draw. He had to make his move early making a long sustained run and after finding the front he was run down by a horse going well who had the softer run. Don’t sack him off that. THE BLACK BOOK A few to follow out if this meeting including the 2YO’s Graff and Mickey Blue Eyes. I know this race wasn’t a serious contest running very slow time but they rushed home in serious figures for the day and I’m happy to tick them off for a future reference. RIDE OF THE DAY Angland and Avdulla rode well for their winning doubles but it was Josh Parr who gets the nod with two faultless rides for a feature double onPecans and Sambro. THE WEEK AHEAD Monday: Grafton Tuesday: Taree Wednesday: Canterbury Thursday: Wagga, Wyong Friday: Muswellbrook, Wagga Saturday: Binnaway, Boorowa (picnic), Lismore, Newcastle, Rosehill Gardens Sunday: Dubbo, Sapphire Coast
  5. NSW Swifts score thrilling one-point win over Queensland Firebirds IT was the same under-pressure shot Sophie Garbin’s teammate Helen Housby took to secure England gold over the Diamonds at the Commonwealth Games but this time it delivered victory for an Australian team hellbent on proving critics wrong. With just seven seconds on the clock and Housby by her side, Super Netball debutant Garbin nailed the goal which gave the NSW Swifts their first ever win over the Queensland Firebirds in the top netball competition. The 54-53 thriller in front of 9590 at Qudos Bank Arena was the first major upset of the competition and one which also delivered former Swifts player Briony Akle her first victory as a Super Netball coach. “How good was that. She will be the next Australian shooter. She’s rock solid,” said Swifts captain Abbey McCulloch, whose intercept with just 33 seconds on the clock delivered Australian under 21 player Garbin, who had sat on the beach in the first half, the ball for her winning shot just seven seconds from time. The Swifts produced a 7-0 run in the final quarter of the match at Qudos Bank Arena to transform a six goal deficit into a one goal win. The shock loss spoiled former Australian captain and Firebirds defender Laura Gietz’s Super Netball debut after a year off to start a family. Garbin, 21, who moved from Perth to Sydney for her chance to play Super Netball in the off-season and scored the last nine goals of the match, later said she didn’t even remember taking the match winner. “I just shot, got the ball and shot,” she laughed. The thrilled Swifts jumped on each other in a victory pileup at the end of the game. “Abbey says we have to play every game like it’s a Grand Final, so we celebrated like it was one,” Garbin said. McCulloch said the victory over a team being touted as a final contender proves the Swifts have the arsenal to be major players in the competition after their disappointing sixth place finish last year. Earlier Jhaniele Fowler smashed the record for the most goals scored in a match by an individual with her extraordinary display against the Adelaide Thunderbirds. Fowler scored 66 goals from 68 attempts - more than a goal a minute - to drive the West Coast Fever to their 74-56 victory in round one. Fowler, who also helped Jamaica to its recent bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games, scored all but five of her team’s total in her first Super Netball outing for her new side. Her haul bettered the previous Super Netball record of 50 goals held jointly by Sunshine Coast Lightning shooter Caitlin Bassett and her Diamonds teammate, Magpies shooter Caitlin Thwaites.

  7. How To get Good ratio on your Private Tracker Most of us tend to be not satisfied and frustrated with a low ratio. So check this out , maybe will help you. 1. Go for Fresh Torrents. You can obtain a significant ratio when you’re able to grab a torrent file earlier on and seeds for the other downloaders. New files are more likely to attract leechers than seeders. You’ll be able to upload more data when the newly added torrent files will have more leechers. This way is more effective if you have a fast internet connection. Therefore, avoid old torrents. 2. Opt for Smaller Files. It is more appealing for the downloaders to download smaller files than choosing bigger files. They are likely to start leeching as soon as they are done because they have completed faster. You can share smaller files right away in which sharing and re-uploading the smaller files give you a much higher ratio. 3. Use a higher leecher ratio than seeders. Try looking for and always get a popular torrent with a higher number of initial leechers. This would help in increasing torrent ratio quickly. When there are more leechers than seeders to a recently added file, the more bits and pieces you’ll be able to share with the community. As soon as you start downloading, you would be able to upload instantly. Therefore, avoid torrents with many seeders. 4. Avoid Zero-leech torrent. Neglect a file with zero leechers. It doesn’t boost your share ratio when no one is downloading your file. When looking for the files on the list of torrents, look for the Leecher column and neglect anything that has a zero. Once you have a stable and better ratio, it is time to snag anything you want. Don’t go for torrents with no leechers. 5. Cross Seeds. Cross-seeding is a process of re-seeding a previously downloaded file by grabbing a file from one or two trackers and seed it on another to build up your ratio. Before doing so, familiarize yourself with the rules of trackers if this practice is discouraged. 6. Adjust client download and upload limit. Setting an appropriate upload and download limit can make a big difference. The upload speed is usually a direct ratio of your download speed. You gain a higher upload speed to and from your peers if you are downloading the torrent file at the same time. 7. Keep the Torrent Client working. After completing the download of a torrent, keeping your torrent client seeding will increase your uploading rate. Don’t delete or move the files to keep it running. Downloaded files can be copied from one location to another in order not to disturb the seeded file. Downloaded files can be copied from one location to another in order not to disturb the seeded file. 8.Purchase Credits. One can be rewarded with VIP status, top sharing ratio, and other benefits when using credits. You are paying for the right to download files more than the other free users. Though this doesn’t work with some torrent sites, you can gain credits just by staying active in their IRC channel. 9. Donate. It is a good practice to donate especially when the site relies on donations in order to cope up with their server costs. This act of gratitude will greatly affect your account status as you help out the torrent site community. 10. Get a Seedbox. It is a private server that is used for uploading and downloading files using a remote torrent client on a private and dedicated server with a general speed of 300Mbit/s or higher while keeping your IP address away from prying eyes. Having a seed box helps you gain much higher ratio due to guaranteed uptime connection for server availability.

  9. How To Create Torrent from Seedbox How To Create Torrent from Seedbox For This Tutorial I Presume That You Already Know What Is Seedbox, if Not Then Look at The End of This Tutorial for Another Seedbox Related Tutorial Threads. Let Start Creating Torrent 1. Click on it (Star) You will get Pop-Up Screen [shown below] 1. Select Source Path/ Location of Data required to create '.torrent' 2. Trackers What is Trackers Tracker Announce URL. It keep track of who is seeding & who is downloading along with data send or received, duration how long you seeding/ seeded. It is a little different URL then site URL & it work independently (mean it have nothing to do if site is up or down). Since it keep all the track records of stats, therefore we usually call torrent site as 'Trackers'. Tracker get update mean send stats at different time, which various from 15 min - 1 hours depending upon how it is configured by site. That's why our stats don't updated after a while. 3. Piece size What is Piece (in nutshell) Piece Length — Number of bytes per piece. This is commonly 28 KiB = 256 KiB = 262,144 B. Pieces—a hash list, i.e., a concatenation of each piece's SHA-1 hash. As SHA-1 returns a 160-bit hash, pieces will be a string whose length is a multiple of 160-bits. If the torrent contains multiple files, the pieces are formed by concatenating the files in the order they appear in the files dictionary (i.e. all pieces in the torrent are the full piece length except for the last piece, which may be shorter). Length—Size of the file in bytes (only when one file is being shared) Files—a list of dictionaries each corresponding to a file (only when multiple files are being shared). Each dictionary has the following keys: Path—a list of strings corresponding to subdirectory names, the last of which is the actual file name. Length—size of the file in bytes. Important Points to Remember - By default it is set to 256, which is adequate till the data size of 8-10 Gb. For data above 10 Gb choosing bigger size is better option as it decrease size of created '.torrent' file. Imp - '.torrent' created size inversely related to piece-size, i.e. smaller piece-size bigger '.torrent' size. Note - Many private trackers don't allow '.torrent ' bigger than 1 Mb. At all such trackers changing piece size is only option. Cross-seeding What is Cross-seeding? Seeding more than 1 tracker with same data is called cross-seeding. It is very helpful to save hdd space but many get banned trying it out too. Important Points to Remember regarding Cross-seeding - If you want to seed multiple trackers with same data then you have to create .torrent with different piece size for different trackers. Changing piece-size change hash value so trackers won't get wrong stats. Cross-seeding is only recommandable for torrents you upload to trackers as you can change piece-size. For same data downloaded from different tracker with same piece size will send wrong stats to tracker & you many get ban for cheating ratio. To find out piece size of downloaded/uploading '.torrent' this site is useful - Click Here or you can download this software - Click Here (don't use software to manipulate '.torrent') - To know piece size is same (at a glance) - If you download same '.torrent' from two different trackers & size of both '.torrent' is same or differ only by 1-9 Kb in size that mean both have same piece size. 4. Private torrent Torrent site which require registration for download or upload torrent & they keep stats of download or upload per member is known as Private torrent/ tracker. Now all private trackers use 'passphrase' for getting their member recognized by tracker. What is Passphrase - A passphrase is a sequence of words or other text used to control access to a computer system, program or data. A passphrase is similar to a password in usage, but is generally longer for added security. Passphrases are often used to control both access to, and operation of, crystallographic programs and systems. Since we will going to upload our created torrent on one of the private tracker so we need to 'check it.' 5. Start seeding Do not 'check it' As now all private tracker use Passphrase to keep track of stats, therefore you have to first create upload with created '.torrent' file at tracker & then download it back from tracker. Downloading '.torrent' back from tracker will add your Passphrase to it & then will be able to recognize you. 6. Create.. Once all field filled properly. Just hit it to start '.torrent' creation process start. Choosing Source of Data 1. Select Source - It show your default download directory/ folder (for first time you login into box). After first it will show you where you last left it. Points to Remember - 1. / - Indicate Directory End. If you don't see '/' at the end of name then it mean it is file. 2. It is recommended to keep default directory intact for create torrent. Using nesting of directories will cause trouble for newbies. How to get Tracker Announce URL Adding Other Required Details 1. To create torrent of complete directory just select it & then click 'X' [at the end of 'Select Source'] 2. Annouce demo URL added 3. Must to 'check' for all Private trackers 4. 10. Xiaomi Mi 6X is introduced; mid-ranger features AI cameras, SD-660 Earlier this month, we told you that Xiaomi was holding an event on April 25th to unveil the Xiaomi Mi 6X. Today is the 25th of the month, and sure enough the Mi 6X is now reality. The same handset will most likely be marketed in many markets as the Mi A2, an Android One model that follows last year's Mi A1 Android One model. The latter was based on the Xiaomi Mi 5X. Browsing through the specs of the Mi 6X, we happily note that instead of the rumored Snapdragon 626 chipset mobile platform, the phone carries the Snapdragon 660 SoC. The latter features an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 512 GPU. The 5.99-inch LCD display offers a 1080 x 2160 FHD+ resolution, which works out to an 18:9 aspect ratio. There are three variants of the phone; one model comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB of native storage, another has 6GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage, and the third features 6GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. And those seeking additional storage can turn to the microSD slot that is onboard. As far as the cameras are concerned, just think 20. The two sensors on the back of the phone both weigh in at 20MP (each sporting an aperture of f/1.75), and there is a 20MP front-facing selfie snapper. Similar to the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, the cameras use AI to analyze the subject, the scene and the lighting conditions to optimize a photo. Bluetooth 5.0 is included, and keeping the lights on is a 3010mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0. MIUI 9.5 runs on top of Android 8.1. The Xiaomi Mi 6X does not come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, but it does have a Face Unlock feature. It will be offered in Black, Gold, Rose Gold, Blue, and Red. The 4GB RAM/64GB storage model will be priced at 1599 Chinese Yuan (equivalent to $253 USD at current rates). The unit with 6GB RAM/64GB storage will cost 1,799 Chinese Yuan ($285 USD), and the 6GB RAM/128GB version will be tagged at 1,999 Chinese Yuan ($316 USD).
  11. New OnePlus 5/5T OxygenOS beta build brings double-tap to lock feature A new OxygenOS beta was just released for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T smartphones. Arriving as Open Beta 9 for the former and Open Beta 7 for the latter, the update brings a handful of changes, related to Launcher and File Manager. The update includes the double-tap to lock screen feature. It also features improved searched history for App drawer. Now coming to the File Manager-related change, the scanning logic for large files has been optimized.
  12. Samsung SM-J260G could be company's first Android Go phone A new Samsung smartphone has been spotted in a benchmark listing. Listed on Geekbench as SM-J260G, it's an entry-level smartphone that could be well be the South Korean company's first Android Go attempt. As you can see, this is a low-end handset with 1GB RAM, but runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Android Go is an iteration of Oreo aimed at smartphones with modest hardware, while Samsung doesn't typically release its entry-level devices with the latest available Androive version. Oh, and the motherboard is listed as "universal7570_go." So enough indications that SM-J260G is an Android Go phone. Reports say it could carry the 'Galaxy J2 Core' moniker. Of course, nothing is yet officially confirmed. We'll let you know when more information related to this device surfaces.
  13. HTC U12 listed on Verizon website with 'frameless' display, 3500mAh battery Verizon's Open Development website is the gift that keeps on giving, after outing the 128GB/256GB versions of the Galaxy S9 not long ago. This time around, it's time for HTC's rumored 2018 flagship, the U12, to shine in the database. The device is listed as having "frameless" Super LCD 6-gen display with WQHD resolution, and Gorilla Glass protection (duh). The U12 apparently has IP68 water-resistant rating, and a 3500mAh battery pack. The rest is run of the mill specs like Bluetooth 5.0 or 4K video recording, while software duties are reserved for Android 8.0 with the HTC Sense Companion overlay. The fact that the Verizon Open Development listing says LTE Cat 12 is an eyebrow-raiser, though, as that's a pretty old standard that doesn't do the Cat 18 in Snapdragon 845 justice. Let's hope that these are just the minimum requirements for the U12 to be included in the Open Development testing platform. Listed in the "new" section, the device was just added yesterday, so the rumors that it will be released next month might pan out, after all.
  14. LG G7 ThinQ new Second Screen menu leaks out: Rounded app corners & notch customizati A just-recently leaked real-life image of the LG G7 ThinQ spills the beans on the display submenu of the device's settings, not only once again revealing that you will be able to customize the display notch, but also tinker with the actual corners of the display. Seems users will be allowed to go with either trendy rounded corners or more classical edgier ones, which are still slightly rounded, it would seem. Aside from that, it seems that the color of the display horns surrounding the notch will be user-customizable. A slew of color options are seemingly available outright and will apply to the home screen and the default apps, but we are unconvinced anything beyond black would look good in such a scenario. Change our mind, LG. As a reminder, the LG G7 ThinQ will be unveiled next week, on May 2.
  15. Possible Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 specs include Snapdragon 660 chipset It has been over a year since the last Xiaomi tablet, so hints of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 are coming just in time. The info was dug up by @FunkyHuawei who explores ROM configurations for clues of hardware features. The tablet will be powered by a Snapdragon 660 chipset, according to its build.prop. There’s no info on RAM size and the presence of a microSD card is not quite certain. The screen of the tablet will have 320 dpi, though that doesn’t tell us much of its size and resolution. Info on the Mi Pad 4 cameras is more certain – there will be a 13 MP OmniVision OV13855 on the back (f/2.0, no 4K video capture) and a 5 MP Samsung S5K5E8 on the front (f/2.0). It will offer portrait mode. There are two more certainties – a 6,000 mAh battery and the lack of NFC. However, with no word from TENAA, the tablet probably isn't near launch yet.
  16. Verizon leaks HTC U12 key specs Verizon has a platform called Open Development for encouraging the development of new products, apps, and services beyond the company portfolio. Along with the design & build part, there is also a Showcase part where many devices, licensed to work with the Verizon network, are listed. According to a listing of the HTC U12, the phone will have Super WQHD LCD with 6” diagonal. It also reveals the battery capacity of 3,500 mAh and Android Oreo. For obvious reasons the Verizon Open Development listing has used the image of the year-old HTC U11 instead. The U12 is said to arrive with “Frame less Display”, meaning we might see a tall screen. Earlier case renders revealed a tiny forehead and chin and practically nothing on the sides, similar to what Samsung introduced with the Galaxy S8 last year. The listing also says LTE Cat.12 which is contradicting with previous rumors of Snapdragon 845. The latest high-end Qualcomm chipset supports Category 18 download and Category 13 upload with up to 1.2 Gbps speeds. There is a possibility the Verizon version of the phone might limited for some reason or that this is just a typo.
  17. T-Mobile Is Already Warning us About the 5G Connectivity Standard T-Mobile Is Already Warning us About the 5G Connectivity Standard When It Comes to Speeds T-Mobile is all set to introduce 5G connectivity this year and as the excitement for this new standard builds up, an executive has warned about unrealistic expectations from it. Here is everything you need to know T-Mobile Executive Claims That 5G Connectivity Speeds Will Be 25-50 Percent Faster Than What You’Re Experiencing Now, but There Is a Silver Lining According to T-Mobile’s VP of radio technology and strategy Karri Kuoppamaki, initially, the speeds would just be 25-50 percent faster than the current speeds. A lot of has been said about phenomenal 5G speeds, but remember LTE wasn’t as fast as it is now when it was first introduced. The same logic applies to 5G. Even till date, some areas experience slow LTE speeds while some cannot experience because it does not exist there. The way it works is that as networks improve and expand, speeds increase. That is not to say that you will not witness any changes at first. There will be subtle improvements, without a doubt. However, the further you are from major city centers, the lower would be the speed change you would experience. Compared to other carriers, T-Mobile will launch with wider ranges, but at that distance, the speed would be not as much as the hotspot technology other mobile carriers will launch. “Are we going to see average speeds start to move up by tens of megabits per second? For sure. We would love to see average speeds triple, or move to 100Mbps, but that’s a journey that’s going to take time in the industry.” At the outset, it will not have a lot of effect. People who own compatible devices and live within the range will experience the same improvement as people living in rural areas do when they transfer to a city tower on LTE. Depending on your carrier, there are always differences between signal strength and speed. The rollout of 5G will be a slow and cumbersome process. With growing coverage, we will see a lot of improvements. T-Mobile says that 5G has the same growth potential as 4G. The initial experience might not be all the exciting, but as we go along, the speed will increase substantially. If you want to know everything there is to know about 5G technology, do check out our comprehensive explanation and the underlying technology that goes and will go during the official deployment of the next-gen standard.
  18. Apple may drop 3D-Touch on upcoming entry-level LCD iPhone We all know Ming-Chi Kuo as the analyst that usually gets Apple rumors correct. The latest note from KGI Securities suggests that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, the entry-level model, will drop 3D Touch due to some new component changes that would drive up the cost. Kuo says the 2018 entry-tier iPhone will use a new “Cover Glass Sensor” technology that would relocate the iPhone’s touch control module from the display panel to the actual glass. This “CGS” type of glass apparently makes a display lighter and more shock resistant. In addition to the in-glass sensor, another ‘touch film sensor’ will be added to the glass. It isn’t known what the purpose of that film layer is for, but whatever it is, it will raise the cost of the display from $23 to $26. In order to offset these costs, Kuo predicts that Apple will drop 3D Touch functionality altogether, thus making it into a feature that Apple can hold hostage to the more expensive models. The other two models are said to continue to have 3D Touch functionality. Since Apple plans to switch future iPhones to the CGS display glass, it could mean that Apple will either eliminate 3D Touch altogether, or find a new way to incorporate 3D Touch into a new panel that also supports the rumored touchless gesture controls – which Apple is said to be working on for a release over the next few years. Perhaps the unknown 'film sensor' is a way to make 3D Touch work with the new CGS display tech and touchless controls are to remain a thing of the future (for now).
  19. A Sprint - T-Mobile merger deal may be agreed upon next week After discussions that went on and off last year, T-Mobile and Sprint - the third and fourth largest mobile carriers in the US - may finally be on the verge of merging. Earlier this month, the two carriers restarted merger talks, and Reuters now reports that they've made significant progress in this regard. According to unnamed sources that have shared information with Reuters, T-Mobile and Sprint could "successfully complete deal talks" as soon as the coming week. However, sources tell Reuters there's "no certainty" that a final deal will be reached. Deutsche Telekom and SoftBank, the majority owners of T-Mobile and Sprint, are still undecided on how they're going to exercise voting control once (and if) the deal goes through. If the deal does go through, the newly-formed company would have a bit over 127 million US wireless subscribers, thus being almost as big as Verizon (over 149 million subscribers) and AT&T (over 138 million subscribers).* Assuming SoftBank and Deutsche Telekom agree on a deal, they'll still have to wait for US authorities to approve the merger. If that eventually happens, it will be interesting to see what name and branding the new supercarrier is going to use. * - numbers include postpaid, prepaid, and connected devices subscribers.
  20. LG G6 is officially getting Android Oreo starting Monday, G5 and V20 to follow LG just announced that its G6 smartphone - an ex-flagship launched in August 2017 - is finally getting an official Android 8 Oreo update. More exactly, the update will be rolled out starting Monday, April 30, first to G6 units in South Korea, LG's home country. This will be the inaugural update released through LG's new Software Upgrade Center (opened a couple of weeks back). At this time, there is no word on exactly when LG G6 units in the US and other markets will receive Android Oreo. However, we're fairly certain it won't be long now, and we hope US carriers are not going to take their sweet time to test and approve the update. Android 8 Oreo will bring an enhanced interface, picture-in-picture mode, improved speed, better battery life, and improved stability to the LG G6. Besides that, the update may also include some of the AI (Artificial Intelligence) features that recently debuted on the LG V30s ThinQ. After updating the G6, LG says it'll bring Android Oreo to its G5 and V20 smartphones (both released in 2016). Further details on this will be announced at a later date.
  21. Oreo Updates Rolling Out for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 FE and Galaxy A7 2017 Yes, the ill-fated Samsung Galaxy Note 7 still exists as the “Galaxy Note 7 Fan Edition (FE)”. The device was re-released in small quantities for enthusiasts, and still receives support. If you’re one of the dozen-odd people who held on to the original Galaxy Note 7, then you’re stuck with whatever version of Android it was launched with, and zero possibility of receiving any updates, let alone Oreo. The Note 7 FE Oreo update is rolling out for the LG Uplus, and SK Telecom variants and the other major South Korean carriers should follow suit shortly. Unfortunately, little is known about the contents of the update and what changes it will bring, other than the fact that it comes with the April security patch. We can hazard-guess that it’ll bring some if not all features that the Galaxy Note 8 received with its update. The global unlocked variant of the device should receive it in a few weeks as well if things go well. Any major software update beyond this point seems unlikely, so you might have to savour this one for a long time. Galaxy A7 (2017) Oreo update is rolling out globally The Galaxy A series is Samsung’s mid-range offering, and software support for some devices is often slow. Thankfully, Samsung recognizes the Galaxy A7 (2017) as a device that needs to be supported and is rolling out the Oreo update for it. The first region to receive the update was Vietnam, followed by Russia and Trinidad and Tobago (seriously?). All international variants of the device will begin receiving it, depending on the region. The update, like all the ones Samsung rolled out this month, brings the April security patch with it. It is unlikely that the device will get all the features the Galaxy S8 or Note 8 got with the Oreo update, but we can be assured that it’ll at least get all the Oreo goodies such as notification channels, autofill API, PIP mode and more. The update should reach your device OTA, but you can also navigate to Settings » Software update menu on your phone to trigger a manual download.
  22. LG G7 ThinQ: 5 important rumored features to anticipate LG certainly took its time when it comes to the development of the LG G7 ThinQ, which will be the South Korean company's flagship smartphone for H1 2018. Previously, LG had the habit of announcing its flagship devices near the annual MWC trade show, but after a change at the helm of the company earlier this year, the flagship was belated. Fortunately, we have an official announcement set in stone, on May 2. As we are quite eager to see just how many of the rumors and leaks out there will turn out to be real, we decided to round up a couple of anticipated G7 ThinQ features in preparation for the major Android flagship. Here are a couple of intriguing rumored features that would make the G7 ThinQ a worthy of your consideration. A super-bright display Display brightness normally flies under the radar when it comes to everyday usage until you go outside on a bright sunny day and your eyes squint after trying to make out anything on the hardly-legible display. LG seems to have been thinking how it could improve its users' experience, and the answer to that could be one of the more intriguing features of the G7 ThinQ. LG revealed that the device will carry a display capable of hitting upwards of 1,000 nits of peak brightness in certain scenarios. This is similar to what Samsung's more recent top flagship devices have been capable of - phones like the S9, S9+, Note 8, and others can also reach similar peak brightness in certain super-bright daylight conditions. It was also revealed the display will use 30 less power than the display panels found on the G6 and the V30, and that's great - a big chunk of your battery's juice is used to light up the display. Aside from being super-bright, the display will also have the very large footprint of 6.1-inches and have a physical resolution of 3120 by 1440 pixels, which works out an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, a step up from last year's 18:9 FullVision display of the LG G6. The panel also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and... will have a customizable notch: users will be able to hide this one by applying a black background to the display horns to the side of the notch, which would give a more traditional appearance for all of you notch-haters. AI and a dedicated Google Assistant button One of the leitmotifs of the LG G7 will be the smart AI capabilities of the device. Similarly to th LG V30s ThinQ, which was introduced two months ago, the G7 ThinQ will likely feature the same set of smart scene recognition features for the camera app, which will intelligently pick the correct camera mode in accordance with what you're trying to capture This is an educated guess of our own that would most certainly become reality as LG will certainly further invest in the AI trend that's so hot right now. Additionally, leaked renders suggest that the phone will also feature a dedicated button that will be used to launch the Google Assistant. That's a not-so-subtle jab at Samsung, which has been equipping its flagship devices with dedicated hardware buttons that launch the company's own Bixby virtual butler. Cool new color options With the exception of the V30, LG doesn't have a very impressive track record when it comes to available color options of its smartphones. Even the company's latest G-series flagship device, the G6, was only available in black and silver colors, which is quite limiting in terms of options. Well, it seems that the G7 ThinQ will be different in this regard and arrive in a slew of classy colors which can be seen below. A 3.5mm audio jack LG has proved time and time again that it cares about audio by employing high-quality DACs on its more recent devices, like the G6 and the V30. Another common trait of all LG devices thus far has been the inclusion of a 3.5mm audio jack that allows you to connect your own regular old-school headphones and enjoy your favorite 70s rock tunes. Although one can never be a 100% certain, rumors and leaked renders suggest that the G7 ThinQ will indeed have an audio jack. More power to the users, we guess! Slightly 'disappointing' hardware Okay, we know that calling a Snapdragon 845 + 4GB of RAM combo disappointing is stupid. However, given that even entry-level mid-range phones these days have 4GB of the stuff and many flagships ship with either 6 or even 8GB of RAM, the leaked benchmark suggesting that the device will ship with 4GB RAM felt a bit disheartening. Don't get us wrong, more RAM doesn't automagically makes a device much better in terms of performance compared to a more humbly-endowed counterpart, but for the regular Joes out there, more RAM is definitely a big selling point, just like megapixels used to roll in the not-so-distant past. This could spell some bad news for LG's sales numbers, but let's hope we are not bad prophets. Hopefully, LG would consider releasing a more capable and well-spec'd variation of the device as well.
  23. HMD teases the return of Nokia N-series Our wish may be coming true – HMD is expected to revive the X-series and the N-series may be next. The company’s Weibo account posted a commemorative post about the Nokia N-series and how it was launched on April 27 2005, 13 years ago. On that day at a press conference in Amsterdam the Finns unveiled the Nokia N70, N90 and N91. But the post comes with an invitation – as vague as it is, it seems to be an invitation for the unboxing of a new phone. The rumor mill has been abuzz with Nokia X6 leaks, but could this be a double reveal? Img Of course the phone in the photo is the Nokia N8, one of the best-loved phones of the series and a legendary cameraphone. The N-series always had a thing for photography and their name is tightly bound to Zeiss lenses (a partnership that HMD has rekindled).
  24. Huawei P20 Pro becomes the company's best-selling phone in Western Europe The Huawei P20 Pro broke the company’s sales records in Western Europe. The phone along with its Huawei P20 sibling were already proven successful in China when they sold $15 million worth of phones in 10 seconds. Back to Europe, the P20 Pro launched a month ago (on March 27) and since then it has surpassed the Huawei P10 Plus (the previous record holder), outselling it by a whopping 316%. Most of those sales are coming from the UK, France and Germany. The first triple camera phone has piqued people’s interest in other regions as well - “Huawei P20” is one of the hottest queries in Germany, Spain and Italy (according to Google Trends). In a few days (on May 3), the Huawei P20 Pro and P20 Lite will launch in India exclusively on Amazon. The Pro model will cost INR 65,000.
  25. Sony's Xperia business unit will be downsized in an effort to increase profitability Sony has confirmed that it will be downsizing its mobile division in pursuit of profits. Over the course of the last five years, Sony’s Xperia line of smartphones has seen a pretty steady decline in sales which has often been accompanied by losses. In a bid to put a stop to this, however, the Japanese giant has confirmed that it will be reducing the focus on its mobile business going forward. A few years back, Sony Mobile announced plans to downsize the overall scale of the Xperia brand with a focus on profitable devices. This entailed scrapping most of the company’s lower-end offerings and increasing the number of premium models available to consumers, starting with the introduction of the Xperia X series back in 2016. This temporarily provided higher profit margins and allowed for a number of positive quarters. Eventually, however, the division declined back into the red and parent company Sony has now confirmed that the mobile division will once again be downsized in an effort to increase profitability. After all, the Xperia brand bled a total of JPY31.3 billion, or $288 million, during the quarter ending March, while total revenues have been on a constant decline over the past twelve months. Now, despite partially blaming foreign exchange rates for the unit’s loss, Sony is expecting the downsized business to make significant savings in terms of operating costs. Nevertheless, the focus will continue to be on premium devices, suggesting that the company’s budget Xperia L series could be scrapped entirely, while certain Xperia XA-branded units may also be at risk, with only the Xperia XZ lineup guaranteed to remain in production. Going forward, Sony is aiming to ship just 10 million Xperia units in the fiscal 2018 year, which ends March 31, 2019. This will mark a significant reduction over both 2017 and 2016, which saw the brand ship 13.5 million and 14.6 million devices respectively.
