  1. Facebook As the dust starts to settle from the big announcement that Marvel and Sony will be partnering up on the Spider-Man saga yet again, there are a lot of questions that are still in the air. But if you look at the opportunities presented by this newly reunited team, there’s a pretty big one that sticks out of the pack: a Spider-Verse crossover with the Marvel Cinematic Universe proper. With the Sony Spider-Verse continuing to expand its operations, and the MCU canon supposedly being on a parallel track, it’s time that the two cousins meet in the middle and do something spectacular. And not only is this a good idea for smashing the Sony/Marvel dividing line once and for all, it’s also a good idea for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s big picture, in light of recent events
  2. Facebook While the horror genre has been in a renaissance for years, it's a particularly good time for fans of John Carpenter's Halloween franchise. Michael Myers returned to theaters in a big way with Blumhouse's 2018 sequel, which started a new timeline and brought back Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode 40 years after her original attack. Two more movies are on the way, starting with next year's Halloween Kills. Plenty of actors from the 1978 original are reprising their roles, and it looks like a franchise favorite is going to be appearing in the upcoming sequel. Halloween Kills looks like it's going to be extremely connected to John Carpenter's classic, as original and new actors will bring various characters back into the franchise's narrative. The latest report indicates that Nurse Marion Chambers will have a role in the sequel, with actress Nancy Stephens playing the role for a whopping fourth time.
  3. After earning rousing standing ovations and even the Golden Lion Award at this year’s Venice Film Festival, over the past week the major narrative about the new Todd Phillips film has been one of worry, mostly thanks to various family members of the Aurora shootings voicing concerns to the studio about their concerns over the Arthur Fleck-based film. Yet, the Joker premiere, at least, went off without a hitch. Although security was amped up for the Los Angeles premiere of Joker at the TLC Chinese Theater in the heavily trafficked Hollywood Boulevard area, the premiere basically went off without any issues of any sort. There were some changes, as there was even security in the parking garage nearby the Chinese theater. Traffic was also shuffled into one lane and cars were inspected at the event.
  4. This Friday is set to be Triple Force Friday. It's the day that a massive amount of merchandise is set to be released promoting three major Star Wars projects, video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Disney+ series The Mandalorian, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Based on the preview event that I attended last week, and everything that was shown during the livestream reveal, there's a lot of stuff set to come out. Although, possibly not as much as you might think. I spoke with Hasbro's Senior Director of Global Marketing, Mike Ballog, at Lucasfilm last week and he estimated that, at least in the case of Hasbro, only about a third of the products that are being produced for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will actually hit the streets on Triple Force Friday. The primary reason that the rest of the stuff wasn't coming out, was potential spoilers. According to Ballog...
  5. NEWS The Suicide Squad’s James Gunn Shares Support He Got From Marvel, Wants The DC Feud To End 17 HOURS AGO ADAM HOLMES Facebook At the beginning of 2019, approximately a half year after James Gunn was unceremoniously fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it was officially confirmed that he’d be jumping to the DC universe to write and direct The Suicide Squad. Then, just two months later, Disney and Marvel reversed course and rehired Gunn to helm Guardians 3, though because he boarded The Suicide Squad in that interim period, he’s tackling that DC tale first and then will jump back to the MCU. Even though he’s now working with the MCU’s chief rival on the superhero movie front, James Gunn has revealed that the folks over at Marvel Studios are incredibly supportive of him working on The Suicide Squad for DC, and Gunn is advocating that DC and Marvel fans follow suit and stop feuding with one another about these companies.
  6. Ever since Frozen first struck it big, and Frozen II was eventually announced as its successor, audiences have probably asked themselves one big question: will there ever be another “Let It Go” for their eager ears and hearts to wrap themselves around? As of today, the first rightful competitor for that title has now been named, as a clip from Frozen II’s new song for Elsa, “Into The Unknown” has just been teased in a short video. You can listen to a portion of that song for yourself in the video below, which will require skipping to 00:22 if you want to get straight to the action.
  7. NEWS The King’s Man Trades Gadgets For A Network Of ‘Cleaners’ 16 HOURS AGO MIKE REYES Facebook Possibly the greatest challenge that writer/director Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman prequel The King’s Man will have to face, besides figuring out where Elton John could possibly sneak in a cameo, is coming up with something to replace the series’ usual litany of gadgets. Which is why it’s probably a good thing that rather than try to come up with some sort of World War I-era tchotchkes that could ruin a person’s day, this new film will have more of a human factor, as evidenced by actor Gemma Arterton’s Polly and a network of “cleaners." While some of these operatives do indeed have skills that could straighten your closet and keep your study straight, Gemma Arterton explained to CinemaBlend and a group of journalists who visited the set of The King's Man that these “cleaners” are more of the Michael Clayton/Ray Donovan type:
  8. It’s almost a given that when a role as iconic as Blade is recast, the press will want to ask the original actor how they feel about their successor. In this case, it’s Wesley Snipes who’s being asked about how he feels about Mahershala Ali being the new face of the character that Snipes brought to the screen in the late ‘90s. And if you think you know the answer that Wesley Snipes is going to give to that question in particular, it might be a good idea to hold that thought for a moment and read his response below:
  9. It’s no secret that Warner Bros has a lot of DC Comics-related movies in development, some of which are definitely happening, while others have been static. Nightwing falls into the latter category, as even though it was announced back in 2017, there’s barely been any update on its status for approximately a year and a half. Now there’s word that the reason there’s been a delay on Nightwing moving forward is due to The Batman. According to Forbes’ Mark Hughes, director/writer Matt Reeves is using The Batman to build the foundation for not just a trilogy of films, but also a “fully realized bat-world,” which is hardly surprising given the character’s popularity. So while Robert Pattinson’s Batman isn’t connected to the Ben Affleck-portrayed Batman from the DC Extended Universe, assuming all goes according to plan, there could come an opportunity for another filmmaker to play in his bat-world
  10. From the first time that Stan Lee appeared in the first X-Men movie and Cyclops joked about yellow spandex, it seems that any movie based on a comic book property was going to be full of easter eggs and references to the source material the movie is based on, as well as the larger comic, or in this case, film, universe. Spider-Man: Far From Home was certainly no exception. However, while Far From Home included a lot of references to the MCU, as well as Spider-Man's broader history in comics, there were honestly so many easter eggs for fans to catch that it's unlikely that even the biggest fan caught them all. Some of these were quite obscure or hidden in far from obvious places, but thanks to the new Blu-ray release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, we now know of a few great Spider-Man shoutouts we missed the first time around.
  11. NEWS What To Expect From Rose Tico In Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker 11 HOURS AGO ADAM HOLMES Facebook When we met her in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose Tico was serving as a mechanic within The Resistance. However, not only did a lot happen in that movie that resulted in nearly all of The Resistance being destroyed, but a year will have passed between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, and when we reunite with her in the latter movie, she’ll be much higher up within The Resistance hierarchy. In addition to the Triple Force Friday preview event showing off the many toys and merchandise for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker that will be available for purchase soon, some of the characters’ costumes were also showcased, which came with new details about what we can expect from said characters. Here’s what was said about Rose Tico (via SFX Magazine):
  12. In Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Far From Home, audiences get to learn a bit more about the life of Peter’s teacher, Mr. Harrington, and it turns out that he is a pretty miserable dude. For example, he made a discovery that his ex-wife didn’t actually disappear during The Blip, but instead was secretly living away from him for more than five years. It’s a bit of funny dark humor in the Marvel Studios film, but there’s a funny bit of extra trivia surrounding it that you may not quite fully know. Namely, not only was a similar bit originally orchestrated for Mr. Harrington in the making of the sequel’s predecessor, Spider-Man: Homecoming, but it was material that hit the cutting room floor because it was deemed “too sad

REVIEW: ‘Little Baby’ displays a new side of a father-daughter relationship of today’s era where teenagers want to live their life on their own terms. Sasha (Gulnaz Siganporia) is a 19-year-old free-spirited teenager, who is bold enough to ‘unfollow’ all the rules to live as per her will. Boozing and partying with friends is her everyday routine, which worries her father Dushyant Singh (Priyanshu Chatterjee) SSP Dehradun — who is both, a powerful man as well as a loving father. Now, to reduce the growing rift in their relationship, will he understand her lifestyle or will she change herself and lead her life according to her parents? Director Shekhar S Jha’s film is high on emotions and what works in his favour is its simple narrative, which is relatable to the common man — as it’s all about the youngsters of digital era who think their dads are nothing more than ATM machines. Priyanshu Chatterjee creates an impact with his intense and emotional role of a helpless father. On the other hand, Gulnaz Siganporia seems quite amateur, and her dialogue delivery lacks fineness, mainly due to the absence of the much-needed punch lines. Overall, the makers could have explored the tricky relationship of parents with their teenage kids, but ‘Little Baby’ is aimlessly high on drama with an amateurish take on a sensitive topic.
  15. Pat Cummins has been one of the stars of the Australian season in England which started with the World Cup and ended with the visitors retaining the Ashes. Cricketnext Staff |September 30, 2019, 5:17 PM IST Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins has been one of the stars of the long Australian season in England which started with the World Cup and ended with the visitors retaining the Ashes. After a much needed break to recharge his batteries, Cummins will focus on succeeding in the shortest format of the game as Australia host the T20 World Cup in 2020. "The last year has been a real one-day focus leading into the (50-over) World Cup. I think we'll see a shift," Cummins was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. "We've got 20-odd games before that T20 World Cup. Personally I want to be in that World Cup squad, so I want to play as many of those games as possible. "There’s a lot I want to work on in T20 cricket, so it's good there's more opportunity now to concentrate on that with six games in a row (to start the summer). I don't feel like I've had that in a long time." Cummins has opted out of IPL in recent times and has played only two T20Is in the past two and half years. However, he is confident of adapting fast to the demands. "I've been bowling heaps so I feel like my rhythm is there, it's just about trying to work on yorkers, slower balls and different field placements I haven’t tried since the (ODI) World Cup," explained Cummins. "Hopefully it doesn't take too long to work on that. Then it's back into red ball (cricket) after that. We've got six T20s all in a row, so I feel like you can put more attention into that rather than a quick in-and-out series." Australia will now shift their focus to a T20I series against Sri Lanka before taking on Pakistan in a series that will include both T20Is and Tests.

Cricketnext Staff |September 30, 2019, 5:52 PM IST As MS Dhoni's career enters its final few legs, the race to grab the the wicket-keeping spot in the Indian team seems to be heating up. At present, Rishabh Pant seems to be ahead but a lot of questions are being raised, especially when it comes to his batting. One man who has seen it all and was in fact the no.1 choice before Dhoni came was Parthiv Patel. After making his debut at the age of 18, Patel has gone onto play 25 Tests and 38 ODIs in the national colours. “There is no reason to believe I am not in the scheme of things. I am just 34,” Parthiv told The Hindu. “But these are external pressures I don’t want to take. I just want to go out and enjoy my game. If I keep scoring runs and the selectors and team management believe I can make a comeback, I know I am fit enough to be there."

  18. Ashish Nehra, who knows a thing or two about injury management, on Sunday insisted that India's premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah's stress fracture has got nothing to do with his unorthodox action. PTI |September 29, 2019, 3:40 PM IST Ashish Nehra, who knows a thing or two about injury management, on Sunday insisted that India's premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah's stress fracture has got nothing to do with his unorthodox action. Bumrah was recently ruled out of both the South Africa and Bangladesh series' owing to a stress fracture on his lower back, with a recovery time period of two months due to early detection. Former India left arm speedster Nehra is confident that Bumrah will be as lethal post his comeback as he was prior to injury. "Stress fracture is unrelated to action and we must get our concepts clear. He doesn't need to change his action and if he tries to do that, it won't be great. Let me assure you when he comes back, he can bowl with same action, intensity and pace," Nehra told PTI during an interaction. "His action is not that unconventional as it is made out to be. The alignment of his body at the time of delivery is perfect. "The only aspect that is not copy book is his left hand (works like a pivot), which doesn't go up. Even then, his action is 10 times better than Malinga. Malinga's knees, back leg bends giving a look of a javelin thrower," said Nehra, known for his in-depth technical knowledge. For someone whose career was plagued by injuries, Nehra feels that it's not always prudent to set a time frame. "In case of stress fracture there is no time frame. Jasprit might feel good in next two months and may not feel good even after six months. So only the player knows when his body is feeling cent percent match ready," he said. The rehabilitation is very important as this is a type of back injury that doesn't involve any surgical process. "Stress fracture doesn't have medication. It's only proper rest and rehabilitation unlike disc injury or any nerve tissue injury," he said. Nehra feels that an injury like stress fracture can never be apprehended and Bumrah's was the classic case. "He had a month's break post ODI World Cup. He didn't play white ball format and came for Test matches. But that means workload was well managed but still he had that fracture. Now can you explain why?" he asked. Nehra elaborated, "Had they not done scans, they wouldn't even had figured as players wouldn't immediately figure out they have stress fracture. "Stress fracture is detected through bone scans and not MRI. In bone scan plates, you will see doctors pointing at various spots. These are stress spots. "Now fast bowling is a strenuous activity and do a bone scan of any bowler and you will see those spots. Do you stop playing? It's just that you have to manage it well as some injuries are chronic," he said.

PTI |September 30, 2019, 11:22 PM IST Injured India speedster Jasprit Bumrah will be off to the United Kingdom to seek opinion on his lower back stress fracture from multiple specialists. Bumrah has been ruled out for a minimum period of two months starting from the South Africa Test series till the end of Bangladesh series, his first major injury break in his three and half year international career. Umesh Yadav has replaced him in the Indian Test squad for the series against South Africa. "The BCCI is sending Bumrah to London for further treatment on his stress fracture. The NCA head physiotherapist Ashish Kaushik will be accompanying him. The BCCI has fixed appointments with three different specialists to get multiple opinions," a senior Board functionary told PTI on conditions of anonymity. "Bumrah is expected to leave on October 6th or 7th and would be there in the UK for about a week. As per the opinion of the three doctors, the next course of action will be decided upon. We have taken appointments from the best in the business when it comes to stress fractures," the official added.

It's not an exaggeration - since the beginning of 2010, they've lost only four Tests at home, the last being 2017 against Australia. Cricketnext Staff |September 30, 2019, 1:56 PM IST That India are strong at home is the most obvious thing to say. They are not just strong, but nearly impossible to beat. It's not an exaggeration - since the beginning of 2010, they've lost only four Tests at home, the last being 2017 against Australia. It sums up the challenge South Africa have ahead of them. They lost 0-3 in the four-Test series the last time they toured India, and are once again up against a formidable unit. India are so stable at home that they can even withstand the blow in the form of Jasprit Bumrah's injury. India's combinations for the Test series is more or less settled, but they've still got a few key decisions to take.
  21. Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni had a big role in Shane Watson’s superlative performance in the final of the IPL against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The ace all-rounder had a hamstring niggle and Dhoni made sure that Watson was in good shape to bat, by reducing his workload on the field. The move was an instant hit as Watson smashed a scintillating 117 to win the match and title for his side. Cricketnext Staff |May 30, 2018, 8:14 PM IST Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni had a big role in Shane Watson’s superlative performance in the final of the IPL against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The ace all-rounder had a hamstring niggle and Dhoni made sure that Watson was in good shape to bat, by reducing his workload on the field. The move was an instant hit as Watson smashed a scintillating 117 to win the match and title for his side. Kashi Vishwanath, CEO of CSK, told Times of India that Watson was suffering with an injury but it wasn't very serious. "It's true that Watson wasn't 100 per cent fit. He had niggle, but the team kept him in good shape for the big final.” The Aussie who hit two tons in the tournament, played the last four league games with niggle. That was the very reason why Watson did not bowl in the games starting from May 18 against Delhi Daredevils at the Feroz Shah Kotla. In fact he missed a game against Kings XI Punjab too. What is noteworthy is that skipper Dhoni made him field within the 30-yard circle, and where Watson didn’t have to move much. In the final too, Watson wasn’t in the best of shape and was struggling to run between the wickets. But he found his rhythm in the match and smashed a whopping 11 fours and eight sixes in the match.
  22. Philander has now zoomed into the forties after a few well-hit boundaries! At this rate he will get to his half-century before Bavuma gets his ton. Excellent batting from the lower-order batsman thus far. 10:13 (IST) Philander's stay at the crease has seen him hit two boundaries so far. He is a valuable lower-order bat and it will be interesting to see just how far he can go on through the day. 10:01 (IST) Vernon Philander has been a key ally to Bavuma so far this morning. Bavuma now races into the 80s. One of the Indian bowlers would no doubt want to get him out before he reaches the 100-run mark. 09:45 (IST) Bavuma gets the game off to a good quick start as he is now at 70 and the total in excess of 200. He will look to get a century before retiring, just like Makram did yesterday.
  23. 16:24 (IST) Right, so that's that. Both sides have decided to call it off here. The match ends in a draw. 16:20 (IST) OUT! This is not good for the BP XI! Dharmendrasinh Jadeja also back in the hut now for 1. The score is at 265/8 with the South Africans hoping to knock the last two over soon. 16:15 (IST) OUT! There's the seventh wicke for South Africa. Senuran Muthusamy has trapped Jalaj Saxena lbw and BP XI are 264/7 and trail by 15 runs. 16:09 (IST) 50! Siddesh Lad has completes his half century too and has batted well for these runs under pressure. He's hit seven boundaries and a six. Can he turn this into a big one with the tail for company? 16:00 (IST) OUT! Unfortunately though that's the end of KS Bharat (71) and he has been castled by Keshav Maharaj, who picks up his third wicket. BP XI are 236/6.
  24. South Africa registered an innings victory in the opening Test of the 2010 tour thanks largely to two of their stalwarts - Hashim Amla with the bat and Dale Steyn with the ball. Opting to bat first, the Proteas lost Ashwell Prince and Graeme Smith to Zaheer Khan by the seventh over. But an innings collapse was avoided by two of the best South African batsmen ever - Amla and Jacques Kallis (173). The duo added 340 runs for the third wicket as Amla's maiden double hundred put the Proteas firmly in the driving seat. Amla's disciplined knock hardly consisted of lofted shots and the way he played Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra on a pitch that behaved like a fourth-day track, was a lesson in itself. Amla added 108 runs with AB de Villiers as South Africa went on to declare their first innings at 558/6 with Amla remaining unbeaten on 253, having slammed 22 hits to the fence.
