Doherty was performing at a charity gig in Cardiff

Pete Doherty covered ‘The Drugs Don’t Work’ by The Verve during a charity gig in Cardiff.

The Libertines frontman was headlining Immersed! Festival on Thursday (December 14) which also featured Kyle Falconer. All proceeds from the gig went to Teenage Cancer Trust.

As well as performing classic tracks such as ‘Song for Lovers’ and ‘Time For Heroes’, Doherty also treated fans to the 1997 Verve track.

Last month, Doherty donated a selection of his artwork to an exhibition and auction which seeks to help rehabilitate prisoners.

He became involved with the charity after coming across their pop-up gallery in his new adopted hometown of Margate, where the Libertines are building their hotel, bar and studio The Albion Rooms for recording sessions on their new album.

The Libertines frontman’s work was put on display from November 23 until December 15 in a pop-up gallery in Margate for the Stretch charity’s ‘Outsider Art Festival’.

Earlier this year, a mural appeared in Southend-On-Sea depicting Pete Doherty‘s recent completion of a big a breakfast challenge.

Photos of The Libertines‘ man were spread across social media after his triumph over the breakfast challenge at Cliftonville’s Dalby Cafe in Margate – finishing a giant meal of four rashers of bacon, four eggs, four sausages, hash browns, onion rings, bubble and squeak, two slices of thick bread, and a quarter-pounder burger and chips in under 20 minutes.

The challenge had previously only been completed by “five or six people”.
