Henriques bought by IPL's Kings XI Punjab

All-rounder Moises Henriques is the only Australian player bought thus far in the Indian Premier League auction.

The 31-year-old Sydney Sixers star was bought by Kings XI Punjab for a price of 10 million Indian rupees ($A198,000) on Tuesday, the first of 23 Australians trying to break into this year's IPL, which will run from March 29 to May 19.

Henriques will join India bowler Varun Chakravarthy at the Kings XI, who along with new Rajasthan Royals paceman Jaydev Unadkat, was the joint most expensive mover of the auction's first round in Jaipur.

Both bowlers fetched a price of 84 million rupees.

English all-rounder Sam Curran was also picked up by the Punjab franchise for 72 million rupees, while the Delhi Capitals bought South African opener Colin Ingram for 64 million rupees and Englishman Jonny Bairstow will join for Sunrisers Hyderabad for 22 million rupees.

However, neither highly-rated West Australia youngster Aaron Hardie nor his compatriots piqued any the interest during the sale's opening round.

Shaun March, D'Arcy Short, Alex Carey and Adam Zampa are still up for bids, along with Test No.3 Usman Khawaja, paceman James Pattinson and Ben McDermott.

That group are likely selections for Australia's squad for this year's World Cup in England and Wales.
